Great seeing the packed crowds at the events and the noise they're make must be spine tingling at times.
After watching Today at the Games tonight, I've a new found respect for JJ Chalmers (presenter) sharing his experience with Micky Yule. After his struggles in the last 2 Commonwealth Games in the heavyweight para-weightlifting, he finally won a bronze medal today.
Not knowing about his Royal Marines background beforehand, the tragedy in Afghanistan and how Birmingham was so poignant on how the hospital saved his life.

Thursday at the cricket. Here's Alice Capsey scoring a boundary. And some England fans celebrating another four.

Friday morning's athletics. A little boring to be completely honest. Linden Victor soaring towards a gold medal in the heptathlon. As the crowd drifted out, I climbed to the very top of the stadium, for a vertigo-inducing view.

Amongst the events I enjoy most are those I understand least. Wrestling definitley falls into this category. I spent half of the session trying to work out how points were scored, and then half the session enjoying it. The winning moment in the men's 125kg category bronze medal match, with England's Mandhi Kooner coming out on top. Its another fan-friendly sport. Here's English bronze medallist George Ramm, from Bolton, posing for a photo with some young admirers.

Niue's bronze medal in boxing is its first ever medal at the Commonwealth Games since its debut in 2002. It is an island in the South Pacific measuring just over 100 square miles and with a population of just under 2000. Whilst it is self-governing, it is part of the Realm of New Zealand and all Nieuans have New Zealand citizenship.

The badminton turned out to be one of my Games highlights. It is so fast, and the leading players have astonishing reflexes. And I paid just £22 for 5 hours of world class sport. Top value. Fact of the day: a shuttlecock which has been smashed by a player travels at over 330 km per hour (well over 200 mph). Here's the English mixed doubles pair of Marcus Hall & Lauren Smith, ranked #10 in the world, on their way into the semi-finals. My prize for the best team strip of the whole Games goes to the Malaysian badminton team. The model here is men's semi-finalist Tze Yong Ng.

I was planning to go to Warwick for the cycling road races today. But I'm pretty knackered after so much activity during the past week, so I'll watch it on tv from home.
My final tickets, tomorrow, are for the men's Hockey bronze and gold medal matches.

I watched some of the Commonwealth eSports this weekend, with Malaysia coming on top with 3 gold medals out of 6 available (3 games and split between male/female teams).
There were 3 games being played (Rocket League, eFootball and DOTA 2). I play Rocket League regularly so the Rocket League event intrigued me and didn't disappoint. eFootball (former known as PES) was a weird inclusion and DOTA 2 was just confusing to watch - not a fan of these games tbh.
One thing I will say is although the idea is logical to include eSports in a major multi-sport tournament, it will be a tough sell should it become a medal awarding event in 2026 - especially to the traditionalists. Understandably the crowds were lacking and didn't have the vibe of an esports tournament.
I wouldn't mind seeing a few more games being included in the future but there is some work to do between now and 2026. The success of the esports tournament in the Asian Games next year will be telling.

I got to half-a-dozen events dodging about between work commitments. Will sort out some pics and pop them in the photo forum.
Squash is BLOODY DIFFICULT TO PHOTOGRAPH though.

Squash is BLOODY DIFFICULT TO PHOTOGRAPH though. Probably depends on the angle of your seat to the court. I got quite a few nice shots of both players together, thanks to being behind them and slightly off-set sideways.
