Ok, I thought i'd jump on the bandwagon and do one of these things. The following have been culled, leaving room for 14 new songs in the chart:
99. Archies - Sugar Sugar 98. Jam - A Town Called Malice / Precious 97. ATB 9PM (Till I Come) 94. Chicane featuring Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up 93. Melanie C with Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes - Never Be The Same Again 90. Some Might Say - Oasis 87. Gabrielle - Rise 80. Come On Feel The Noise - Slade 71. Abba - Waterloo 69. Fatboy Slim - Praise you 66. Michael Jackson - Billie Jean 64. Eiffel 65 - Blue (Da Ba Dee) 53. Whigfield - Saturday Night 49. Beatles - Hey Jude

Ok, first ten then...
100 (--) Frank Ifield - I Remember You 99 (--) Herman's Hermits - I'm into something good 98 (73) Kinks - You Really Got Me 97 (96) Beatles - Ticket To Ride 96 (92) Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) 95 (59) Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays 94 (--) Steve Miller Band - The joker 93 (81) D:Ream - Things Can Only Get Better 92 (45) Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody 91 (76) Christina Aguilera - Genie In A Bottle
Three new entries in this section then. All the others are fallers, most notably Slade who drop a spectacular 47 places, thus making them the biggest fallers on the chart (I think). I still think it's a wonderful Xmas song. Trouble is it gets so killed by overplay during the festive period that by the end of it all you end up thinking "thank f*** I don't have to hear that again for another year". The Beatles also score the first of four hits on the chart. Interestingly six of the above pre-date my birth. Oo-er.

Eifel 65! I haven't heard that in aeons! Yeah, me neither. Probably one of the reasons i've omitted it this year. It's still a rather ace slice of Eurotrash nonsense though by all accounts #disco#

90 (--) Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) 89 (--) David Bowie - Let's Dance 88 (100) Evanescence - Bring Me To Life 87 (78) Deep Blue Something - Breakfast At Tiffany's 86 (88) Baby D - Let Me Be Your Fantasy 85 (--) Oasis - The importance of being idle 84 (--) Madonna - Into The Groove 83 (60) Beatles - I Wanna Hold Your Hand 82 (75) Beatles - From Me To You 81 (36) Britney Spears - Baby One More Time
Four more new entries then, including the first of only two tracks to make it in from last year. There's even a couple of risers in this section which is... exciting... if you like that sort of thing... Bowie records his first of three hits on the chart and just one Beatles track now remains. Honourable mention must also go to Britney for a 45 place slump... ouch.

I think the latest Oasis one will be higher on my chart, liking it a lot, in fact, might even be one of my fave Oasis songs of alltime. Lots of oldies in that first section!

Ooh, songs from the 60's in there! Yay! I've not been scanning through all the top 100s in detail but has anyone actually heard any 1950's #1s?

Ooh, songs from the 60's in there! Yay! I've not been scanning through all the top 100s in detail but has anyone actually heard any 1950's #1s? Yes, I grew up listening to them and my Mum gave me a big box with quite a few of them in it. It's unfortunate, that while they probably wouldn't appeal to many today, they really don't stand a chance because as you say, most will not have heard them at all.

Next lot then
80 (63) John Lennon – Imagine 79 (94) Chicane featuring Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up 78 (91) Fragma - Toca's Miracle 77 (--) Tasmin Archer - Sleeping Satellite 76 (74) Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger 75 (58) Madonna – Vogue 74 (55) Art Garfunkel - Bright Eyes 73 (50) David Bowie - Ashes To Ashes 72 (47) Beatles - She Loves You 71 (67) Wamdue Project - King Of My Castle
Aside from a couple of good risers and one new entry there are a few rather hefty falls in here too. The biggest of which is suffered by the Beatles, with a song that is to be their last entry on the chart. Madonna gets her second hit thus far and there are still four more of hers to come. Just one Bowie song remains now.

I'm being hopelessly slow at updating this
70 (85) Pet Shop Boys – Heart 69 (--) T Rex - Get It On 68 (83) Culture Club - Karma Chameleon 67 (86) Blur - Beetlebum 66 (95) David Bowie - Space Oddity 65 (--) Frankie Goes to Hollywood – Relax 64 (56) Gary Numan - Cars 63 (62) Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade Of Pale 62 (51) Roger Sanchez - Another Chance 61 (48) Sonique - It Feels So Good
Four risers, the biggest of which goes to Bowie and a 29 place rise for "Space Oddity" (though there are bigger still to come), four fallers and two new entries in the section. The Pet Shop Boys have their first hit, with three of theirs still to come.

Oh quite a good top 10 there - that Bowie song is fantastic although I never thought it was that 'commercial'.

60 (54) Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head 59 (20) Europe - The Final Countdown 58 (65) Police - Every Breath You Take 57 (--) Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights 56 (31) Donna Summer - I Feel Love 55 (40) Baddiel, Skinner & Lightning Seeds - Three Lions 54 (72) Blondie - Sunday Girl 53 (23) EnglandNewOrder - World In Motion 52 (--) Specials - Ghost Town 51 (79) Manic Street Preachers - The Masses Against The Classes
This section sees big drops for Europe and EnglandNewOrder in particular, although the latter does win the battle of the big football anthems yet again, just edging out 3 Lions this time round. Kate Bush and the Specials score new entries and there are impressive rises for Blondie and the Manics especially. Only two new entries remain...

50 (46) Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away 49 (30) Spiller - Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) 48 (21) Madonna - La Isla Bonita 47 (89) Blackbox – Ride On Time 46 (68) Cornershop - Brimful Of Asha 45 (43) Tomcraft – Loneliness 44 (77) Livin' Joy – Dreamer 43 (32) No Doubt - Don't Speak 42 (33) Various Artists - Perfect Day 41 (24) Cher – Believe
Some impressive rises in this section, most notably those made by Livin' Joy and Blackbox. The latter climbs a hugely impressive 42 places and yet it still doesn't have the accolade of being the biggest climber...

40 (82) Rui Da Silva featuring Cassandra - Touch Me 39 (38) The Tamperer ft. Maya – Feel It 38 (27) Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas 37 (70) Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind 36 (52) Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now 35 (84) Tubeway Army - Are 'Friends' Electric 34 (--) Gorillaz – Dare 33 (26) Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger 32 (22) Coolio featuring LV - Gangsta's Paradise 31 (25) Verve - The Drugs Don't Work
A section made up of four impressive risers, five relatively minor fallers and one new entry. The new entry belongs to Gorillaz "Dare", the highest entrant from the two that have made it in from last year. Tubeway Army have the accolade of being the biggest riser, up 49 places from lat year, whilst Rui Da Silva's achieves a similarly impressive 42 place rise. The Pet Shop Boys and Oasis each have their second hit on this chart. The former have two still to come. The latter have none remaining. There's still one more new entry to be revealed...

I love that Pet Shop Boys song and great to see Gorillaz so high as well, be interesting to see which of the new songs charts the highest overall.

30 (--) Babylon Zoo – Spaceman 29 (61) Michael Andrews feat. Gary Jules - Mad World 28 (16) Chesney Hawkes - The One And Only 27 (28) Abba - Dancing Queen 26 (34) Kraftwerk - The Model / Computer Love 25 (37) Olive - You're Not Alone 24 (35) Belinda Carlisle - Heaven Is A Place On Earth 23 (15) Blondie - Heart Of Glass 22 (18) Adamski – Killer 21 (41) Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls
So Babylon Zoo score the highest new entry with a song which was inexplicably omitted from last year's chart. Oops. Three fallers and the rest are risers. Blondie have three remaining entries, the Pet Shop Boys one.

Your taste seems remarkably similar to mine in places. Great to see Blondie and PSB doing so well, both charted in mine with virtually every #1 they'd had (Blondie missed with The Tide Is High while PSB missed with West End Girls).
And excellent to see Babylon Zoo in there too, sorely overlooked as a novelty song by too many.
