#16 Kasabian " Empire "#2 peak for this one marked the triumphant return of the Madchester influenced indie dance pioneers' 'Empire' was another tune you couldn't ignore reminding me of of late nineties Primal Scream and just as uncompromising. I still haven't fully got into the album but as the single releases go on, I feel it is a more consistent record than their debut.

#19The Automatic "Monster "A number one single in my chart love or hate this you couldnt ignore it, yes it is probably awful but its so more addictive, singalong, catchy, jolly, chanty than it deserves to be. My three year old loves it which just about says it all. This is indie pop!! rock music that 3 years olds will sing and there should be more of it not less. Will probably be in my chart.

#18Nada Surf "Always Love "This reached #2 on official release in my chart after charting on import in 2005,it also managed to make the Official Top 75. Most famous for their alt-rock classic 'Popular' from 1996. They returned with an album so different from their post-grunge sound; a beautiful album which reminded me more of Teenage Fanclub than anybody else and this track if radio had got behind it may have given them their first proper hit but as usual it was only a specialist radio hit. Will be in my chart. Was #44 last year.

#17AFI "Miss Murder "Another #1 single this the first of the superb 'December Underground' album. While not as groundbreaking as the classic 2003 record 'Sing The Sorrow' it was still better than 99% of music that passes for emo/modern rock music only bettered by Panic! At The Disco for me. No.

#15Simian Vs Justice "We Are Your Friends "The dance track of 2006 just an amazing remix and just improves upon the original in everyway, some say this is no different to Eric Prydz or something but take away the Simian sample and it is still a brilliant track thats the difference. It reached #1 in my chart. #14Snow Patrol "Chasing Cars "This track peaked at #3 for Snow Patrol who had four tracks in the top 30 of the year in 2004 this time they will settle for two. I must admit I thought 'Chasing Cars' was a poor imitation of 'Run' but while still not as good it has grown & grown on me and the fact that it has helped them have the top selling album of 2006 and have a million selling single in the US , I just have to love it. #13Fall Out Boy "Sugar We're Going Down "Now a great pop/rock record which reached #1 this year, forget emo or whatever this is just a great pop record, catchy as hell and they probably will never top it #12Sigur Ros "Hoppipolla "This reached #4 but it was a solid grower and seems to be everywhere in 2007, I must admit being very late getting into Sigur Ros but this is so epic & beautiful how could anyone resist. #11Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Cheated Hearts "Another #1 and if somebody told me 2-3 years ago that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs would have 2 number ones in my chart and release one of the top ten albums of the year I would not have believed them, this is another indie pop gem but the more powerful 'Gold Lion' is yet to come.

#10Snow Patrol "Youre All I Have "A brilliant return for one of my favourite bands tbh I still prefer 'Final Straw' but this single came close to the brilliant 'Spitting Games' the fact that their are better songs on teh album that havent even been considered singles yet bodes well for 2007 'Hands Open' has to be a UK Single

Ok we end this now heres the rest of the top 10 #9Panic! At The Disco " I Write Sins Not Tragedies "Awesome track and from one of my top five album sof the year well certainly most listened to this is another great slice of emo rock but with a sense of humour, Panic! have great lyrics and dont sing about misery etc as the stereotypes go. Oh and it only reached #2!! #8Death Cab For Cutie "Crooked Teeth "Death Cab were for me a NM band a name you see but you never hear their music played anywhere, written about in the press or even knew who they were till you see them on his mighty countdown. But in 2006 this all changed for Death Cab For Cutie now regarded as one of the top indie bands in the US college circuit along with bands such as The Shins, they crossed over and this song well and truly crossed over to me beautiful, fragile, anthemic everything I liked about the best indie pop this year. Two more tracks to come that that description fits also. Again it only reached #4 but its should have done better. #7Bedouin Soundclash "When The Night Feels My Song "ERm feel a bit guilty counting this so high as I loved it so much in 2005 it reached #65 last year now it finishes at #7. Just a brilliant cod reggae track from a band that are so much more that one hit wonders. #6The Crimea "Baby Boom "Its another re-issue but at least this one didnt make my previous year ends and yeh its another NM band. This song is just gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous just makesd me gooey just..........ahhhh!!! It reached #1 #5Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Gold Lion "Enough enough all this dream pop is all very well but where were the great indie floor fillers the ones that made you bounce around, well not quite yet but close. Amazing vocals and a track reminds me of Siousie Sioux or Patti Smith that good. Just gloriously epic and a masterpiece. Oh and another #1. #4The Aliens " " Alienoid Starmonica EPOOh how did this finish so high,it only reached #10 easy this was a practically perect EP,every track was amazing in its own way and as a long time fan of The Beta Band ,it was no way disappointing. 'Only Waiting' is my favourite track as its just has that Beta Band sound but I have loved all the others a different times. 1. Hey Leanne 2. Only Waiting 3. Robot Man 4. Ionas (Look For Space) Now my top 3 I cant choose between 2 & 3 I cant I cant I ...........

OK as you can see again they are both re-issues I really dont know what this says about 2006 or something about me, I dont know. #3 Hot Chip " Over & Over "Up until I typed this this was my number two of the year but sod It I switched. I loved this the first time,I loved it again just this time it made much more impact on me, it reached #2. You all know it nothing more to say. #2 The Guillemots " Made Up Love Song #43 "In 2005 this track earned the accolade of being the last physical single I every bought, I knew it was obscure so had to order it and it finished #57 last year now it is #2. A song that stands head & shoulders above the more inventive & experimental tracks on 'The Guillemots' just a pretty pretty song. I am really going soft where are all the noisy guitars this year, where is the shouting, where are the RIFFS!!! ? You want a riff i'll post my number one later!!!!!
