8. Athlete - Wires [2005]There's something so intense about Wires that I find so fascinating and beautiful. It has such a haunting and introspective feel to it that it always makes me take stock of my life, as it did when it was first out.

7. Goo Goo Dolls - Iris [1999]It is amazing to believe that Iris only peaked at #26 in the UK, but it is still regarded as an all time classic, rightfully so. It was huge in Ireland, having charted on import for months before release. The song reminds me of the summer of 1999, which was a very memorable summer for me. Edit: I notice that on my mp3 player, Iris is attributed to Good Charlotte. That is so wrong, on so many levels!!

6. Dido - Here With Me [2001]I first heard of Dido through the Eminem song. I really liked her voice from that sample and was intrigued to hear more. When I first heard Here With Me, it just instantly clicked with me. Such a powerful and beautiful song.

5. The Source - You Got The Love [1997/2006]Another song that shouldn't be in the top 100 because it was released before July 1998, but I'm using the 2006 remix as an excuse to include it! Truth be told, I only heard the '97 version for the first time around my GCSE exams in 2001. I found it such an inspiring song that it became a tradition to listen to it before any exam that I did.

4. Michelle Branch - All You Wanted [2002]All You Wanted is such a unique song for me. I don't think there is a song that I fell in love so quickly as this. I heard it first on the chart show, and at that time, I taped all the new entries. I became really obsessed with it and was listening to it over and over again for weeks afterwards.

3. Keane - Somewhere Only We Know [2004]A bit like All You Wanted, when I first heard SOWK I had to get hold of it, and I listened to it over and over again. I guess when this was released I was at the lowest of my lows at university, and this song helped me pull through. Incidentally, my top song from the noughties

2. Catatonia - Strange Glue [1998]As I mentioned earlier, Road Rage was one of the songs that really got me into music. So when I bought Viva Forever, I saw that Catatonia had a new song out, and without hearing it, I bought it too. My friend was asking me why I was buying a song I hadn't heard yet (because a £2 cassette single was a HUGE expense at the time). But I was glad I did buy it as one of my first purchases - it is such a fantastic moving song, and I never ever tire of hearing it.

1. Feeder - Yesterday Went Too Soon [1999]So there we go, Yesterday Went Too Soon for me is the best song of the last ten years, quite apt given what the song is about! It is such a complete and perfect song both musically and lyrically. Just hearing the opening chords sends a tingle down my spine. Anyway, YWTS passed me by totally in the summer of 1999, but my Feeder obsessed friend that I mentioned earlier made a CD of their tracks, and I was just fixated by this one. And still am.
