Marske United are through to the next round after beating Hebburn Town 2-0 in tonight's replay.
It was a fairly even game with both teams enjoying lengthy spells of possession, though I'd have to say both goals came against the run of play.
The first came on 28 minutes, when the Hebburn keeper (who was a rather large bloke to put it politely) came rushing out of his box to clear a through ball but was beaten to it by the Marske player who was able to cut it back for an easy tap in.
The second came from a free-kick on 75 minutes and seemed to knock the stuffing out of Hebburn. Marske had several chances on the break after that, with one chance going wide (possibly after the striker had been put off by MrsH's shouting) and another hitting the post.
A great evening out, with a good game of football and the amusing sights of balls getting stuck in the hedge behind one of the goals and the most tattooed referee ever.

To cross over from the "cost of footy" thread, how much did it cost? What was the attendance?

£4 for adults, plus £1 for a programme and 50p for a half-time cuppa. Great value for a game of footy and we'll definitely be going again soon.
Attendance was around 100, I reckon.

Runcorn Linnets? This must be the AFC version.

Runcorn Linnets? This must be the AFC version. Yes. The club was set up by disgruntled Runcorn fans shortly before the original club folded. Maine Road is a club set up by Man City fans in the 1950s, originally as a Sunday league side. They have the same colours as City and their badge is based on the old Man City crest. More than 3000 turned up to see them play FC United in the league a few years ago.

Saffron Walden Town is one of the biggest grounds that I've played at, alongside Purfleet FC, Grays Athletic and Tilbury FC. Do/did you play non-league football yourself or in some very swanky pub teams? Sorry, missed this question. I used to work for, and keep goal for, a large employer in Essex, that often booked grounds with a stand and proper dressing rooms for its friendly fixtures, to show off.

Cool!
I played at a non-league ground in my only appearance for my village's kids' team when I was 10 or 11, but I can't remember which one it was...

The following isn't confirmed on the FA website yet, I'm just going on what I've managed to find online.
Both of Haven's FA Cup teams are still in the competition after today's Preliminary Round games. Marske United are through to the next round after winning 4-2 at Armthorpe Welfare. In the next round, Marske are away to Thackley, who knocked out Harrogate Railway today.
Saffron Walden Town drew 1-1 with Great Wakering Rovers. The winner of the replay will be at home to Ryman Premier side Harrow Borough in the next round.

I wouldn't have minded a trip to Harrogate for the next round. Thackley's probably out of my range...

Only discovered Eton Manor last season, i'm surprised Eton can sustain two teams tbh. Poor result for Herne Bay btw, they're going for the Kent League title this season

Railway play in Starbeck though, quite a rough place where Mel teaches, a few miles outside of Harrogate. If they are at home next saturday, I'm hoping to go and watch them play on non league day. Been a few times, usually just over 100 there, nice seated stand behind the goal though.
