I read an interview with Robin Hull on Saturday. The symptoms of this virus first showed during a defeat to James Wattana in the 2003 UK Championship, sounded scary. He quit the game early in 2008 having been a pro since 1993 reaching a couple of QFs in ranking events beating Steve Davis once and also Neil Robertson. His biggest prize was £14,500 for reaching the first round of the 2002 World Championship. Tried a comeback briefly in 2011 before quitting for a second time and moved back to Finland as his mother is Finnish and his father English, did various things, selling magazines over the phone, warehouse work. Then last year he decided he wanted to try again, entered the European Championship, for non-pros apparently, won it and got a two-year pass on the tour. Hope you have an enjoyable day there today Panda

Hope you have an enjoyable day there today PandaCheers Tom. It was an exhausting but enjoyable day. Left my house at 6:30am, having not really slept the night before and got home at 2:30 this morning. Selby v White was an exciting match even if it wasn't the best quality. Selby blew very hot and cold and twice looked like he was going to run away with it before losing his form and letting White back in. White didn't play particularly well, with only one 50+ break in the whole match but found a way to dig in and win the scrappy frames. My friend and I both predicted Selby to win the decider though because we felt he was capable of winning the frame in one visit. We then saw the end of Ding v Wasley, who had to come back as they didn't have time to finish in the afternoon. It was a complete contrast to the match we'd just seen, with Wasley looking ultra-confident around the table and knocking in a century to force a decider. Ding played some amazing shots to try and force a snooker on the pink in the final frame but Wasley managed to get over the line. He definitely looks like a hot prospect for the future.

"John Higgins conceded his days as a regular title contender are over after crashing out in the first round at the Crucible for the second successive year. The four-time world champion became the latest big name to tumble in Sheffield, his 10-7 defeat to fellow Scot Alan McManus consigning him to a casualty list of seeds including Ding Junhui and Stephen Maguire. And Higgins, who won three of his World Championship titles in a scorching spell from 2007 to 2011, was forced to admit afterwards that the best days of his career are behind him." Daily Mail coverage The best I can say is at least a Scot made it into the last sixteen.

Shocked at John Higgins decline to be honest always put him in the top 3 or 4 favourites going into the world championship.I didn't know Alan McManus was still playing seems like he's been around forever.
