The final test is up for grabs after Australia were all out for 295 in reply to England's 283. England looked set for a 1st innings lead after reducing the Aussies to 185-7 but they added 110 for the final 3 wickets. Still a good effort by the bowlers in the absence of Moeen, who suffered a groin injury yesterday while batting.

England put on 79 for the 1st wicket before Duckett is out. Stokes batting at 3 in Moeen's absence.

England 389-9 at the close, 377 ahead. After the close of play, Stuart Broad announced he will retire from cricket after this match. My thoughts and prayers tonight are with Mike Atherton now knowing David Warner wont break his unwanted world record of most Test dismissals by the same bowler (19, Glenn McGrath!)

Australia 134-0 chasing 384 to win. Earlier, Stuart Broad hit a six off what turned out to be the last ball he faced in his career.

Broad will be a big miss, meanwhile Anderson carries on (not getting wickets)

And the Ashes finishes tied at 2-2. They retain, but "if only" on the rained off test where England were a mile ahead.

A sensational win for England as they take 7 wickets in the final session to win by 49 runs. Australia collapsed from 264-3 to 334 all out.
Stuart Broad took the final 2 wickets in his last match after a magnificent spell of bowling by Ali and Woakes.

I think I should take credit for England winning the 5th test of this Ashes, the very first ball I saw when I sat down down after finishing work, and making tea was Head bowled Ali caught Root ... and the rest is history, and when they were putting on a bit of a stand for the 9th wicket, then I went and watered the greenhouse, came in and did the washing up, and got back to see as my first delivery Murphy out caught Bairstow bowled Broad.
So I saw all the less seven wickets fall. Woo Hoo.

The 2023 World Cup gets underway tomorrow in India. England are aiming to win back-to-back titles after their thrilling victory on home soil in 2019. They open their campaign against New Zealand in a repeat of that final. The format remains the same as last time with 10 teams playing in a single round-robin and the top 4 qualifying for the semi-finals. This will be the last World Cup with this format as it is expanding to 14 teams for the next edition, to be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. This is the first World Cup to take place without the West Indies who failed to qualify from the qualifying tournament. Netherlands return to the World Cup for the first time since 2011. Unlike the last World Cup in England, most of the matches in this tournament will be day/night games. Live TV coverage is on Sky and just for Andy, highlights on Channel 5 every night at 7pm. No Ben Stokes for England. No Kane Williamson for New Zealand.
England team: Bairstow Malan Root Brook Buttler (c)(w) Ali Livingstone Woakes S Curran Rashid Wood
2 full-time spinners for England and 2 part-time spinners. Could end up being a crucial factor in this tournament.

England 282-9 from their 50 overs. Lost wickets too regularly to really build a platform for a big total but a strong finish takes England to a par score.
