Game on after a very good 3rd day for England. India lost their last 3 wickets in quick succession and were all out for 436, a lead of 190. Ollie Pope hit a century as England reached 316-6 at the close, ahead by 126.

England achieve a stunning win in the 1st test, setting India 231 after Pope's 196.
After taking a battering in the 1st innings, Tom Hartley showed great character to take 7-62 in the 2nd innings to spin England to victory by 28 runs after India were bowled out for 202.

All this on the same day Shamar Joseph took seven wickets as West Indies won a Test in Australia for the first time since 1997. Needing 216 to win Australia (who declared in their first innings - oh the irony) were bowled out for 207.
As for England's victory, whilst Pope; Harley & captain Stokes will deservedly gets the platitudes; I have to agree with KP (Kevin Pietersen) the key to England's victory was selecting England's only world class wicketkeeper Ben Foakes. His anti-Bazball limpet like Boycott/Tavare-esque second innings was critical in putting on a major stand for the 7th wicket with Pope; tiring out the Indian bowlers and changing the momentum of the match; plus his near flawless wicketkeeping & stumping abilities were a welcome major upgrade on Bairstow behind the stumps.

India 336-6 at the close after winning the toss. Yashasvi Jaiswal made an unbeaten 179 but no other Indian batsman scored more than 34 on the opening day.
Two changes for England with Anderson replacing Wood and Shaking Bashir making his debut in place of the injured Leach.

England all out for 253 on day 2 after India were bowled out for 396. Reverse swing, rather than spin was the key factor with Bumrah taking 6-45 for the home side.

An interesting finish in store again. India were bowled out for 255, setting England 399 to win. England reached 67-1 at the close. India still strong favourites from here but England have been competitive once again.

India win the 2nd test by 106 runs after bowling England out for 292. Crawley top scored with 73 but despite the top 9 all reaching double figures, no-one else made more than 36. Bumrah finished with match figures of 9-91 won the Player of the Match award, despite Jaiswal's double hundred in the 1st innings.
The 3rd test starts a week on Thursday.

The 3rd test is finally poised after an eventful 2nd day. India were all out for 445, with centuries for Rohit and Jadeja. India were penalised 5 runs due to Ravichandran Ashwin running on the pitch during his innings, meaning England started their reply on 5-0. Ben Duckett hit an 88-ball century as England reached 207-2 at the close. Ashwin removed Crawley to become the 9th player in history to take 500 test wickets but will take no further part in the match due to a family emergency.

An interesting first day of the 4th test. England won the toss and chose to bat on a pitch where batting conditions looked difficult (and are likely to get worse as the test goes on). England were reduced to 112-5 but an unbeaten century from Joe Root took them to a respectable-looking 302-7 at the close. Ben Foakes made 47 as part of a 6th wicket stand of 113 and the recalled Ollie Robinson was unbeaten on 31.

England hold the upper hand if they can remove the tail end fairly quickly to have a useful lead to take into the second innings.

England suffer an innings defeat inside 3 days in the final test to lose the series 4-1.
On a brighter note, Jimmy Anderson became the first fast bowler to take 700 test wickets.

England have a couple of months off now before they host Pakistan in a T20 series in May, ahead of the T20 World Cup in June. That's followed by two 3-test series against the West Indies and Sri Lanka.
