From watching a bit of the Champions League and Europa League football, I think I am becoming disillusioned with football. The amount of times there is minimal contact now for a penalty, and if the ref gives it, VAR wont overrule him, however light the contact is. I thought VAR would stop so much cheating, but it seems to sadly have increased it. There now also seem to be occasions where players are trying to kick the ball at a players arm to get a penalty! I agree defenders should not be putting hands on attackers, but as soon as they do, the attacker falls down like a sack of sh*t, and the ref points to the spot about 80% of the time. If the ref stopped doing that, they'd stay on their feet more. It just seems to be about who can con the officials the best these days, very sad

In the season that never ends, I see Macclesfield have now been relegated and Stevenage reprieved.
I've been baffled by this case for ages. Maybe someone can explain why it was the "EFL that has just won an appeal against a points deduction", as the BBC's first paragraph says.

How lucky are Stevenage, they really don’t deserve to stay up

How utterly bizarre and gutting for the Macc fans! I wondered why Prosser went to Stevenage when they'd been relegated, now it makes sense. If Macc cant prove financial stability they could do a Stockport from a few years ago, and be relegated out of the Conference structure. Stevenage were absolutely awful all season, did they win like three games? But I guess they are in a better financial state than Macc?

Wolves' season has now ended, 383 days and 59 matches after it began.

Maybe someone can explain why it was the "EFL that has just won an appeal against a points deduction", as the BBC's first paragraph says. The original penalty was decided by an independent disciplinary commission: 2 points deducted, with a further 4 suspended until next season should any further breaches occur. The EFL appealed and today's hearing found in their favour, meaning the full penalty is applied now and Macclesfield finish below Stevenage and are out of the League. Why the EFL couldn't have just made the decision in the first place is another matter.

But I agree, why the EFL is too vague to even arbitrate over the breaking of its own rules is a mystery.

What is even more puzzling is why they punish Macc for non payment of wages, and yet Bury waltzed to a promotion doing the exact same thing last year, but their players carried on playing, until they went pop in the close season! It was still non payment of wages!

Arsenal continue their long-term strategy of building for the future by making their marquee summer signing 32 year-old Willian, on a free from Chelsea.

We played our North Riding Senior Cup semi-final against Scarborough Athletic last night, five months after it was originally meant to be played. Won 3-1 and now have a chance to win the competition for the second time, 25 years after we first won it.

To be honest they have some really exciting youngsters like Saka, Martinelli and Nketiah, but these players need role models so a balance of experience and youth is a really good approach.

Barcelona Battered by Bayern 8-2! The defending was just shocking! Wow. I've just been on to the BBC website to check this, as I didn't believe you. Assuming Man City beat Lyons, do they have any chance against Bayern ?

Almost every time Bayern had a shot on target it went in though, I'm not sure the Barca #2 could call himself a fullback after that performance? If Man City beat Lyon, it will be very interesting to see what City can do to Bayern, as I think they will tear City a new one like they did to Barca tonight!

I've just watched the Barcelona v Bayern Munich game. Good grief, Barcelona were absolutely shocking. Messi looks a mess (he needs a shave) and the whole team were dreadful.

And Man City out 3-1, absolutely awful, that miss by Sterling, absolutely shocking, less time with tattoos, more time on shooting practice? As for the gk, could say he should do better on all the goals. I just hope Lyon do this to Bayern as well.

Great shot by Sterling, keeper was never saving it, just unlucky it went 12 foot over the bar
