The biggest omission which is totally shameful, and quite frankly indefensible from a British perspective: The groundbreaking 1970s teenage rock band that at numerous times members included Joan Jett; Lita Ford; Micki Steele (The Bangles); Cherie Currie; Vicki Blue (who went behind the camera (bar one self aware role in This Is Spinal Tap) turned into a film maker and pop video director) .... The Runaways:
Two many good examples to handle, unfortunately I made my list based on the ones ShireB gave and didnt realise we could have some of our own and since quickly added two but Runaways would have been in my top 10 as well forgot them. Also love all the acts you mention way more than most of my top 20 in my list.

The Angels managed one week at #50 with My Boyfriend's Back. "Til" and "I Adore Him" gave them a couple of other hits in my chart whilst their one UK entry which was a US #1 peaked in my chart at #6.

Muna just missed out for me, great first album but their follow-up was a huge misstep and I couldn't fit them in off the back of one album

You're going to have to work harder than that raliverpool to come up with 20 all-female bands that are all better than the 101 who've sold the most singles in the UK. And yes, we can all do a Google search on "female bands". Besides, three of your list are duos, and therefore ineligible. Anyway, I look forward to receiving your personal Top 20 by PM. Voted. Going by trios or larger. Apologies to The Big Moon; Hinds; & Scandal (the Japanese group, not the 80s US Rock act fronted by the future Mrs John McEnroe); who would have otherwise made my top 20.
You might want to note that the following acts have been nominated at the BRITs Awards in the Best British Group category:
Soft Cell Yazoo Eurythmics Wham! Tears For Fears Pet Shop Boys Erasure Shakespears Sister Chemical Brothers Moloko Goldfrapp Chase & Status Disclosure Royal Blood
Now unless I'm mistaken all of those acts consisted of two (principle) members.
In addition if you go to Wikipedia you will see using the final example:
So in my mind duos are bands; unless they are two solo acts who come together for an album (i.e. Jay Z & Beyonce = The Carters).

You're welcome to think whatever you want raliverpool. I choose to treat duos as duos, and that's what I said at the start of the thread.

To all the people who have sent me your Top 20s already, thank you very much. I have now put up a poll to determine what time of day to hold the results show. In these strange times of social distancing, I've noticed far more people posting during the day, and, maybe, fewer in the evening. Therefore I've given three options:- 10am to noon 2pm to 4pm 8pm to 10pm (All on a weekday). Please let me know which times suit you. You have the option to tick all 3 times if you're not fussed either way. For those who haven't sent me your Top 20s yet, please do so by the end of Friday. These are the people whose Top 20s I have received so far:- odarkstar79Jordanjra1989krescendoManicKangaroomasenzonehitwonderraliverpoolRazzle DazzleRoo.SheriffFatmansmokeybSmurfieTheThornevastar inerWhitneyfan

Afternoon for me!
I was wide awake this morning at about 3 am and created my own girl group Spotify playlist - it’s 10 hours! Surprising tracks missing - MKS “Flatline” was one I couldn’t find at all.

If you have it in the morning, I'll work in the afternoon, if you have it in the afternoon, I'll work in the morning, evenings I tend to forget as I'm watching telly then, but entirely up to you or the majority that vote.

I'm easy. Usually busy after 8. Been doing zoom quizzes and online gaming with my mates 4 or 5 times a week but apart from that I'm pretty flexible
