"White Flag" was # 1 in my chart, like the most Dido singles from her first to albums. Fast Food Rockers "I Love Christmas" got 6th place in my all-time favourite Christmas songs list in 2019. Will we see them so high in this year ? I have to agree that 'I Love Christmas' is a great festive tune.

There are no Christmas for me without festive tunes from Fast Food Rockers, Hotpantz and Cheeky Girls.

White flag is Dido's finest. Life for rent would definitely be in my all time top 10 albums.
I could honestly say that I love all Rachel's singles, but Nothing good about this goodbye which was supposed to be a single at some point, is my absolute favourite!

Dido - White Flag Dido's first two albums were full of well-written, well-sung songs with gorgeous melodies. I sort of lost interest in her after that, but this is just glorious and has lost none of its appeal. Sometimes all you need is a great voice and a great song, and we have that in spades here. Gives me goosebumps.
Her third album left me cold. But then she had 2 follow ups that had some brilliant songs! You should definitely take a listen when you have time.

Blazin' Squad - Flip Reverse I'm afraid I have no recollection of this one at all - although I'm actually not afraid at all because I haven't really missed out on much in the last seventeen years, I feel. It has an annoying humming noise going all the way through it that reminds me of Crazy Frog, which would detract from the song even if it were a particularly good tune, which it isn't - it's just average really.

Britney Spears Featuring Madonna - Me Against The Music I was thinking I had no more Madonna songs to come for a while, but I'd forgotten about this duet between the Queen of pop and one of the Princesses. To be fair it's totally Britney in sound, and you could be forgiven for not noticing that Madonna is even in it if you weren't paying close attention for most of the song, until she sings solo on the bridge. It's pretty good though, I do like it.

Girls Aloud - Jump This cover of the Pointer Sisters classic 'Jump (For My Love)' was featured on the soundtrack to rom-com 'Love Actually', even though it was the original that featured in the film. Even though I totally love the original version I don't mind this either actually, although it is probably more down to the production than anything. At least it's a bit different and not a carbon copy.

Shane Richie - I'm Your Man Oh dear, I mean who really needs this in their lives? There could be no situation where I would ever choose to listen to this cheap karaoke version, featuring a very average singer (sorry Shane!) over the brilliant Wham! original. "If you're gonna do it, do it right" ay?!

Black Eyed Peas - Shut Up I couldn't have picked a better song to follow that Shane Richie rubbish if I'd tried! This was a brilliant follow-up to the mega-selling 'Where Is The Love' too, and if anything it's aged slightly better as it hasn't suffered from overplay. I could think of a few people that I'd like to play the chorus of this too actually! Really enjoyable.

The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End) Damn, there's no getting away from it, the dreaded C-word rears its head again! To be fair, this isn't one of the really jingle-jangly ones that are really annoying to hear in November, and it's still a really good tune that really packs a good punch during the festivities. The Darkness were really unfortunate not to get a Christmas #1 with this, being pipped to the post by the sombre 'Mad World' cover.

Kelis - Milkshake We've zoomed into mid-January 2004 now, with a 4-week #2 for R&B star Kelis, who is singing about how the boys love her flavoured milk drink (or whatever 'Milkshake' is supposed to mean in the context of this song). Apparently the song was originally offered to Britney but she turned it down, which was obviously good news for Kelis as it gave her a much needed hit at the time. I really like it, it's just fun, dancey pop, and sounded different to anything else.

Ronan Keating - She Believes (In Me) I never realised that this was a cover (not that I have any recollection of it in any version - nor am surprised!) It was originally by a singer called Steve Gibb and later recorded by Kenny Rogers in 1979. As I don't know any other version I have no option but to judge it just from Ronan's, but I can honestly say the song itself sounds pretty bland and unremarkable, and I'm not getting any real desire to hunt out any other versions.

Jamelia - Thank you When you see Jamelia doing these comedy panel shows like '8 out of 10 cats' you tend to forget that she did actually release a handful of really great R&B pop singles in the noughties. This song is about her the singer's own experiences in an abusive relationship, and as I have got friends and family who have been in similar situations the words hit quite hard. Even taking that away, this is still a really great pop song that I'm glad I revisited.

D12 - My Band Eminem's "band"'s second song in this thread is another good tune that I'm liking a lot more than some of his solo stuff, even if it is just a parody really. Yeah, it's a really enjoyable tune - I don't know what else to say really.

Busted - Air Hostess Busted, like McFly, are a band who had many more hit singles than I remember. This is no change to the formula they had adopted before, but I suppose if it ain't broke then don't fix it. It's not something I expect I will still be singing along to in a week, and I can't imagine it won them an aeroplane full of new fans, but it works for them so why not.

Christina Milian - Dip It Low Wasn't she supposed to be one of the next big female R&B stars at the time? Whatever, I do remember this now and I'm quite enjoying it but she definitely needed that killer single to propel her to the next level, but this wasn't it. That said, I am liking it a lot more than I did at the time and I think with the right material she could have been bigger.

Kelis - Trick Me Here's a female R&B singer who did have that killer single, in 'Milkshake', and then followed it up with another pretty good one in this. It may have been as high as she got in the charts but this is a pretty memorable single as well and certainly packs a good punch.

4-4-2 - Come On England There have been some great football songs in the charts over the years like 'World In Motion' and '3 Lions'. This is one that I couldn't remember before it started, and then the 'Come On Eileen' tune kicked in and my head went into my hands! As if that song hadn't already been overplayed to death by wedding DJs and the like, we have this hideous parody to contend with. Cringeworthy is probably the best word to describe it.

Girls Aloud - The Show This was the lead single from the girls' second album, and I can remember thinking at the time that it wasn't as good as the singles from their first. It's probably more dance orientated than what they had done before, but the song just wasn't all that good.... well it wasn't terrible but it's quite forgettable, and it hasn't aged particularly well either.

Rachel Stevens - Some Girls This one has got a hint of Goldfrapp about it. Rachel Stevens had proved her worth already with the catchy pop song 'Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex', but this one with its electro-synth sound further cemented her as a solo star. It's been a good few years since I heard this but I have to say I am really liking it a lot right now.
