So what do people think! Obviously it's going to be really difficult, and England are the under-dogs, but drawing the series isn't beyond them and that'd be enough to retain the Ashes. New players like Cook and Panesar need to show consistency and make an impression. We'll know more tomorrow morning, but for now... COME ON ENGLAND!!

346-3 after the 1st day..
Typical that the team that wins the toss goes on to control the match...

I couldnt sleep last night, so switched on the radio and heard it was 200 odd for 3, and I immediately thought we're going to lose this test. It was always going to be difficult to win the series anyway, but after the 1st day I think we're going to lose. Is it just me who thinks we miss Vaughan as captain?

I think Vaughan is a brilliant captain, he was good at getting the best out of players and his tactics could turn a test match just as it seemed to be slipping away. We really miss him!

Aye, going to take a mini miracle. How we are relying on Freddie for the bowling, and now the batting, it's crap!

We can't even rely on rain to stop play, and hold out for a draw.

I thought Australia were going to make us follow on after we were bowled for the pathetic score of 150 or whatever it was, but they're going into bat. Are they trying to really punish us or something?

Yep, it's called rubbing your noses in the dirt, we cant bowl em out for toffee, so clock up a few more runs, and then have 2 more days to bowl us out. I assume there is no chance of bad weather to save us? What gets me is they can make 600 and 180 for the loss of 10 wickets and yet we can only manage 160 for the same wickets, it is just totally pathetic, and if it carries on, it will be a total whitewash. When we come out to bat, we need to dig in, but play strokes when we can, dont lose the wickets cheaply, make them work for them. I want to see us survive the 4th day as a start to show me they have the guts for this fight!

cudn't of gotten off to a worse start, but you look at the names in the england team and half of them are average so i never expected much

My God, it's going to be a rout. I think it's strange that they haven't chosen to enforce the follow-on. I hope it rains plentiful amounts and ends in a draw. That'll make the Aussies look stupid.
Oh well. Roll on test number two.
