Another season down in League 1 then... If we can't get out this year I really will lose faith. With the amount of money being thrown at the club we simply HAVE to get promoted. We can spend six figure sums on various players, sign Neil Lennon ( ) ahead of a fair bit of competition in higher leagues, we can offer Kris Commons excellent money so we don't lose him and we're about to announce a new £50m stadium! We are by far the biggest spenders in the division so for once lets actually do something with it! Early fixtures are good enough, home to Leeds on the 3rd game. Will have all the talk...

yeah the 50.000 new stadium being planned, surely they need to get promoted before it can be considered

Yeah, it isn't likely to be ready for about 3 seasons but we'd still need to be atleast a decent Championship side in order for it to be anywhere near capacity...

im just thinking of my local team darlington, they thought ohh lets build a 25,000 seater stadium, seems like a good idea and they are stuck in league 2 still over 6 years later.

They'd only fill a 45-50k stadium in the premiership, but if it can be used for concerts and such like it could still bring in money.

Our stadium that is being planned is going to be a 15K all seater with the possibility to increase to 25k very easily if we need.

Best way, dont want to be lumbered with a white elephant. Are you rebuilding London Road, or a new ground?

We managed to get 28k on our final 3 matches of this season because we may have been going up. If prices are reduced I can imagine decent enough averages..

its going to be a new stadium, because we dont own the ground, and the owners want to turn it into housing. If we do stay that want one of the new stands to contain flats in the back!, I'd prefer a front window to be able to see the match personally!

Its a real shame to seee a big club like forest down in a low league everything seemed to fall apart after brian clough left.

Did I hear Lennon has signed for you? Great signing, but you've lost a couple of other players?

Our activity this summer has been superb! We've released dead wood and under achievers and signed Neil Lennon, Matt Lockwood, Chris Cohen and Aaron Davies. We've also got Commons to sign a new one year deal. Most Championship clubs would love Commons and Davies on the wings. I am most confident we will be promoted this season!

Actually the rot started when Clough was still there - in the 1992-93 season Nottingham Forest finished bottom of the first ever Premiership but after getting promoted straight back up again they finished 3rd in 1995 and it looked like a "blip". It didn't last long though as they were relegated again in 1997 and yet again in 1999 having bounced straight back. Since that last relegation they have not really been considered a "big" club.
Good luck getting out of league 1. It took us 6 years to get out of it in the 1990s. Maybe this time we'll do it even quicker but we have to get out of league 2 first.

I symapthise with the original post. It was the same for Reading, 4 years stuck in league 1 (or division 2 as it was then known) and after a failed promotion bid we simply had to go up in 2002. Thankfully we did, just, but if you go up you could have some success in the Championship. Both Ipswich (when winning promotion to the Prem) and ourselves in the Championship overperformed in the first season after several years of struggling to get out of the division below. Wigan also spring to mind after they eventually got of league 1 in 2003, finishing 7th in their first season in the Championship.

It's been a while....
A decent start to the season, we've been playing much better than we did last season and now we have key players coming back and the strikers getting into form we should hopefuly continue... Yeovil tomorrow, revenge hopefully!

3-0! Up to 8th with a game in hand over everyone else, 3 points off second!

Another excellent win yesterday. I get the feeling that if that was last season we'd have held on for a draw but it was great to see us grind out a victory. 3 pts off top with a game in hand - we're going up! And surely Leeds' luck will run out? Jammy b*st*rds!
