We've signed Will Hoskins on loan from Watford. He'll join us tomorrow. I'm glad we do have a striker, just a bit disappointed that we didn't get one in permanantly for now rather than for the future. Though we do have the option to buy him at the end of the season for £500k...
I think if we don't win on Saturday he has to start using some reserves to make the seniors up their game. The reserves are 11 points clear at the top of the league with 11 wins, 1 draw, 33 goals scored and 6 conceded in 12 games. We've got the likes of Bastians, Thornihill, Maloney, Sinclair, McLeary, Power and Bencherif all ready to make an impact and if we can't win again they deserve a chance to make an impact!

Hoskins should be a good signing for you.

Hoskins should be a good signing for you. Not sure he'll be very good with his head though, he's only 5ft after all!

2-0 victory and some slip ups from teams around us is good but we can't rely on our full-backs to score... We have to get something from Leeds on tuesday!

Just read that tickets for the home game against Carlisle on 3rd March are just £5! Thats a bloody good deal, any reason why they're so cheap for that particular match?

I dunno. They usually do cheap tickets two or three times a season, it's usually just kids for £1 though! And it's never usually for a game quite so big... The game is on Sky though, so I guess they might be trying to get fans to go rather than watch it on tv.

All 3 Nottinghamshire teams winning! Good to see us winning what effectively became our game in hand. Next fortnight will shape our season though; Carlisle (A), Leyton Orient (A), Carlisle (H)

How come you're playing Carlisle twice in such quick succession - mega-postponement from an FA Cup weekend or something?
Slightly off-topic... It's looking like Swansea are dead certs for promotion, and with the Championship so tight at the moment, do you think they'll make some waves in there next year a la Bristol City?

I guess they could so, I certainly never expected Bristol to do so well on promotion, and neither did my City mate! He was moaning about them having 8 wingers and no bloody strikers

The away game was postponed from last November when we had international call-ups... The title is pretty much Swansea's now, they'd have to go on a really bad run to not go up now. I don't know if they'd do a Bristol City or not, I doubt they'd go down as they're so good in this league but then Scunthorpe ran away with it in the end last year and are struggling, but then they did sell Sharp.... If we go up I don't think we'll struggle. I think getting up to the Championship is harder than staying in it. I think the likes of Commons and Cohen would be really good up there, especially Commons. I think we'd need a right-back, a centre half and two strikers if we went up. One because we need one and the other to replace Agogo. There's rumours he's off to Pompey for £2.5m at the end of the season. If that were true I'd rip their hands off. He's a good player but not Premiership quality. Nugent did much better at a higher level but he's done naff all for them. He's 29 in August, too...

It appears after getting back to scoring Tyson is out AGAIN! Again it's his hamstring, for atleast two weeks.

Plus as Reading, West Ham, Ipswich etc have shown, if you go up after a failed promotion attempt you normally do well in your first season in a higher division. We were in League 1 for 4 years challenging for promotion in the last 2 years, 4 years in the Championship finishing in the Top 8 every season, before reaching the Premiership. Forest have been in the division for 3 years finishing in or around the playoffs each time, so I think you would finish mid-table, probably top half, in the Championship if you went up. Without the burden of having to win promotion the players would thrive with little expectation. At the start of this season I thought League 1 looked weak with the exception of Forest. But with Leeds having a more successful season than expected (though I don't think they'll finish Top 2 now) and Swansea looking a top side, plus the cup runs of teams like Bristol Rovers and Huddersfield, it looks a decent league this season. I just hope that Gillingham stay up as i really fear for them if they go down

The problem with Tyson is that he is so injury prone!

The problem with Tyson is that he is so injury prone! Which is a mystery to me as he never had many injury problems during his time at Reading, certainly none as serious as those at Forest.

It's apparently all down to when he did his knee. I don't fully understand but it's something to do with when they operated to get his knee back right they had to weaken his hamstrings and now he injures them whenever he gets back to fitness. It's a shame, he's a good player and could potentially be a 20 goal a season striker. Unfortunately he's more a 20 game a season striker...

Real shame that My abiding memory of Tyson, apart from having the pleasure of meeting him, is that he's one of the very few Reading players that a mate of mine has been impressed by. I remember him commenting on the two absolutely quality goals he scored for England U20s against Germany about 6/7 years ago i think it was, without me even bringing it up. Thinking back now those goals remind me a lot of Walcott. There is a bit of Henry in the way Walcott plays imo, which is interesting as I've always thought Tyson has a look of Henry about him..

A great win away at Orient today which puts us back up to second! Hope we can keep it going now! Bad news though, looks like Hoskins may be out for up to 3 months and is likely to go back to Watford this week. With Tyson also injured for a substantial length and Holt currently being about as useful as I would be it may be a big few weeks for McLeary and/or Sinclair. Otherwise we HAVE to get someone else in!
