so no new Britney this week?? I was kinda looking forward to Friday I'm still amazed at how well 3 did in the US, straight at #1 on the basis of downloads only, also, if you take into account it's not her most amazing single, it's good but not on the same league as Toxic or Womanizer...

It does give hope for this new single going #1 as well, although I don't think it'll go there as soon as '3' or 'Womanizer' did. 3 literally went there in it's first week, and Womanizer in it's second. I think this time she could climb there after a bit longer, depending on airplay though so fingers crossed!

So Jive are using a Facebook campaign to get the song some early on exposure. Genius! The fanbase alone will make sure the song gets unlocked. I'm hoping it's not released to itunes in the UK straight away though, timing will be everything if she wants her 6th #1. Timing screwed Gimme More, Piece Of Me and Womanizer over.

So much album news! The demo leaked (blatantly intentional by Jive), and has already had a strong response... but Dr Luke says that it's an old version, and it sounds nothing like the finished product. Some radio DJs have been given an exclusive listen, and it's been already labelled "the song of the year", "her best since Toxic", and a "bona-fied smash".
Britney's also been rehearsing the video for the last MONTH! With Brian Friedman teaching the dancers the moves this week, for a video shoot in less than two weeks.
PLUS! New song titles have been confirmed, "I I I Gotta Go" (Second Single, allegedly) and "In Love With a Criminal" (Max-Martin penned).
I think I just had a GODNEYGASM.

Oh wow, Godneygasm! I like it! I'm so happy it's here already! The two new song titles sound great! I know a lot of people are giving her a hard time because the demo sounds a bit generic, but that's exactly what I wanted, a garaunteed smash lead single, ala Only Girl (In The World), We R Who We R and California Gurls, and then she can be a bit more 'Britney' with the second single.

All the producers and people who have heard the finished product say it's nothing like the demo... but it's 1000x better! The bass is meant to be killer, there is guitar in it and it's meant to have a grimey dance breakdown in the middle of it. Cannot wait. This song will be enormous.

I think this one can really be a contender for record of the year in Billboard

I've had it on repeat for almost an hour!!! This sounds like everything a UK #1 should be! I hope she get's it! People need to let go and move on from 2007, and stop being so god damned fickle! If Katy Perry can go #1 with CG then it would be an absolute TRAVESTY if this didn't do the same!

It's so good. Such a collision of different genres. I love the pulsating bass, the synths almost sound dub-step... they are just incredible!

The Bridge and Break-Down are revolutionary! The US just hasn't had a chance to hear any of this before!!!! I don't think they can handle it!

Very catchy tune (far better than her last single 3) & great production. But it sounds like the best single Cheryl Cole will never make instead of a bona fide Britney classic.
Early days but after 3 plays it's no Baby One More Time; Toxic; Everytime or Womanizer IMHO.

I'm sure once everyone's heard it enough it'll easily surpass Womanizer in popularity, and maybe even Toxic. This is definately a Britney classic! I knew this on first listen, and trust me, I KNOW BRITNEY!

In no way is this superior to Toxic.

Toxic's a 10/10 for me, but the beat on this song is CRAZY! and the DRILL!! Wow!
Obviously it's not going to become a classic in 7 hours, which is all it's been out for. But once it's had time to grow, the sky's the limit!

Britney rarely releases the best track as the first single though. In my opinion:
First single vs. Best Track
Baby One More Time - Okay, BOMT was the best track Oops I Did it Again - Stronger was far superior to Oops Britney - I'm a Slave 4 U and Overprotected are on par with each other In the Zone - Me Against the Music is terrible compared to the genius of Toxic Blackout - Break the Ice and Piece of Me are preferred by fans to Gimme More

^ and Womanizer was one of the worst from Circus imo I've got no doubt that there'll be so many more amazing songs on the album!
