At the moment, it seems like Britney's next album is on track for an early 2011 release date - with many sources citing March as a possible time for it to drop.
Apparently, Dr Luke and Max Martin are serving as the executive producers of the album (and recorded a big track with her last Friday), but are trying to push a more experimental sound with her as opposed to merely copying what everyone else is doing. Other producers tapped to work on the project are Danja, Sean Garrett and Darkchild. It seems like they are going for Blackout Part II, as they want edgier beats and uptempos.
I literally can't wait. Britney always delivers, and in my opinion, her best two albums have been 'Blackout' and 'Circus'. I think that now she's finally got her life back on track, we'll see some real passion back in her eyes and she'll actually promote this record with some great live performances.
2011 can't come soon enough!

We've been waiting too long for this already, but hopefully this means that the album will be much better than Circus (not that it was bad, it was brilliant) because she's taking her time.
Also it'll be nice to not be released in the 4th Quarter, maybe we'll have an album with chart longevity rather than just high first week sales. And she needs to promote more internationally, half of Circus' total sales were just from the US.

From her twitter:
"I'm almost done with my new album and it will be coming out this March. I AM IN L-O-V-E WITH IT!"
SO HAPPY!

Allegedly she's already shot the album cover, and the single is expected to premiere on January 3rd

Bad time to release a single, for most people anyway, but she's Britney so she could be fine. She should have waited a couple more weeks though until radio goes back to normal in the US after all the countdowns and stuff. Songs always get lost in the early weeks.

I think they must have a lot of faith in the material, since nearly every one of her albums have been released in the Christmas rush. She doesn't need radio for the song to be a hit. Both Womanizer and 3 hit #1 based on enormous digital sales, before the song had even gained momentum on the airwaves.

You can't deny that Brit is a massive seller in first week, but without the christmas rush she'll NEED the longevity this time. Unless they're at the stage where they couldn't care less about record sales ala Madonna.

Just a couple of tidbits!
Brian Friedman, who coreographed Me Against the Music and Toxic, is auditioning dancers on Wednesday for the new video!
Also, there's an interview with Shellback (frequent Max Martin collaborator), who is donating the guitar used on the first single to charity:
Q: "If you are asked to make a song/some songs for Britney's new album, what's the first step or how do you do it? It's still a lot to live up to because there are many who listen.
A: "It works in many different ways. You can make something absolutely new, or take a beat that's three years old and come up with a good sound.
Q: "Has Britney or her manager called and told you what sound they are looking for, or is it free for you to choose?
A: "It's quite free, but may not have to make Spanish folk music. You should find something new and it should sound "Britney".
Q: "And then you've obviously met her?"
A: "Of course"
Q: "How is it working with her?"
A: "She's actually damn professional"
"You read a lot on the Internet that Britney is not singing and mimes, but she is actually damn professional. She's done it since she was 16, and just rhythmic way, she is f***ing awesome!"
Q: "And good timing right?"
A: "Yea and you do not have to go through and talk about the rhythms and stuff that you sometimes have to do, she's very easy in the studio"
Q: "You, Max Martin and Dr.Luke have donated something very special for a music action. Tell me about it?"
A: "It is a lovely white Hag guitar (this Swedish guitar-inheritance), which is used on one of Britney's new songs."
Q: "When is the album released again?"
A: "The album is said to be released in March, and in January the new single will be out"
Q: "The guitar I'm looking at right now is signed by you Max Martin, Dr.Luke?"
A: "Exactly"
SO EXCITED!

And apparently the first word is 'Hey' and the third word is 'There' in the lyrics! Can't wait! Also I love how EVERY producer she works with sings her praises about how brilliant she is in the studio.

From DS -
The new single by Britney Spears will premiere on US radio next week, it has been confirmed.
Entertainment Weekly reports that 'Hold It Against Me', the lead single from the star's as-yet-untitled seventh album, will receive its first radio play on January 7.
Sharon Dastur, programme director at New York's Z100 station and one of the few people to have heard the comeback track, stated: "It’s produced by Dr Luke and Max Martin, and the beat that they give her is really unique compared to other artists - this infectious bass beat beneath the song."
The song's alleged lyrics circulated around the internet earlier this week, but were later dismissed by producer Dr Luke as fake.
Spears confirmed earlier this month that her long-awaited album is due for release in March 2011.

From DS -
Britney Spears's manager Adam Leber has denied reports that a new single by the popstar will be released next week.
A song entitled 'Hold It Against Me' - the lead single from her as-yet untitled upcoming album - was previously thought to be premiering on radio stations worldwide on January 7.
However, writing on his Twitter page, Leber revealed that fans may have to wait a bit longer for new music from the singer.
"Lots of misinformation out there regarding the release of Brit's first single. Don't believe everything you read," he wrote.
"Unless it's an official announcement coming in January, stay tuned. That said, the single is definitely coming in January."

They took too long to dispel the rumours. I reckon that was the original date but they decided to hold it off a while longer until the radio in the US gets back to normal.

They vehemently denied the Singles Collection and a new release, then a week later, they announced '3' and its accompanying Greatest Hits package. The song and the album are getting tons of hype, which is good, but if we don't have a solid radio release date within the next week or so, I can tell people are going to get very impatient.

Yeah I agree about her management, Adam really gives me the creeps actually, although I suppose he has helped her get back on track. I don't think things are planned as meticulously as people may think when it comes to Britney, not when you compare it to the likes of Beyonce, Rihanna and Lady GaGa who have everything planned and set in stone weeks or months in advance.
I suppose it's a good thing to be spontaneous, but it's not good for promotion.

I think they just realise that they don't need to plan things anymore. '3' debuted at #1, sold well over two million copies off the back of 0 promotion and horrendously cheap video. I think they just accept that Britney immediately attracts attention whatever she does, so it doesn't matter too much when they release something.

That's the case for ths US, but she just doesn't have that same ability internationally I just wish they'd concentrate more on Europe, and then Japan and Australia. They literally don't need to do anything in the US, so all promotion would be better spent elsewhere.
