The album title is positively asking for a kicking (and is already getting one on a couple of forums I inhabit), as it shares it's title with one of the greatest enigmatic pieces of music ever made...... www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjjDmX9TkssSeriously? Seriously? Are the people on this forum you inhabit 11 years old? Having a vendetta against an artist for having a coincidental title? Justin Bieber fans suddenly look much more mature Actually it is Word Magazine & RateYourMusic. Two music sites where the Velvet Underground are highly regarded, and Britney Spears is not. Where the likes of Kate Bush; Patti Smith; PJ Harvey are regarded as greatest female artists because it is about real artists who make their own music who control their own careers. Certainly not a place for someone with a SaTURDays banner. I mean can Britney spell ingenue let alone know what one is? If so then WTF is a blonde American female who has been all over the media over the past decade where virtually everything is known about her naming her album with that title, as she is the very opposite of a mysterious and seductive woman. A supernatural enchantress, vampire, female monster or demon with dark hair. Talk about inappropriate. Sorry, but so far the early signs are she is retreating fast from her critical career high water mark of Blackout. And delaying the video release for two weeks is asking for trouble, unless the video is incredible, or are they having trouble with the editing. Or has she hired the management who made such a pigs ear of breaking Little Boots?

This is just another case of music snobbery and quite frankly it doesn't belong in a Britney thread.

I think the gaga comparisons are idiotic to say the least, what's original in gaga when she's just copying Madonna herself, I'm amazed Madonna didn't sue gaga for her Alejandro video ripoff, that was like putting all 23562372 Madonna videos into one. I won't denny that Gaga has some talent but she's far from being the best thing ever, time will tell if she will persist or just do a Duffy gaga should be compared to the artists she's copying, not the other way around I can't imagine Kate Bush asking for a backstage pass to a Britney Spears concert. Nor can I imagine David Bowie hailing Britney Spears as the best new pop artist in two decades. Who give's a sh*t? Anyone who bases their own opinions on the opinion's of other artists is an absolute tool.

Anyone who bases their own opinions on the opinion's of other artists is an absolute tool. I think someone is just p*ssed off that the sure-fire heir to Madonna's Queen Of Pop throne is on the verge of being overthrown by another younger female artist. You are entitled to your opinions; but David Bowie & Kate Bush are the greatest solo UK music artists these islands have produced in the popular music era. To dismiss their opinions is very foolish in the extreme. Still count yourself lucky someone as talented and iconic as Elton John has not compared Lady GaGa with the greatest UK male icon of all time John Lennon. Some people prefer going to McDonalds; I prefer going to to a Michelin star-ed named restaurant. But I'm not going to condemn them for liking a Big Mac, just because it is not to my tastes. Britney Spears is now sadly a mime artist who rarely composes her own material. Therefore (like Elvis Presley before her) she has let down a lot of her original promise and potential to become a conduit for product and not for art. Her redeeming features are that she is was a fantastic dancer, with a great charismatic presence; and frequently make great pop promotional videos and singles. I apply exactly the same standards with music. Hence why I hate X-Factor; hate Westlife; and hated the Stock Aitken & Waterman sausage factory because it had minimal artistic merit.

Didn't read most of that since the first sentence is complete rubbish. I've never considered Britney as the new Madonna, anyone who know's what they're talking about would tell you that Britney is and always has been more in line with Janet Jackson. Madonna is completely irrelevant when it comes to Britney, other than in level of fame. Lady GaGa is irrelevant in this thread so if you simply have to talk about her, go into her thread.

And delaying the video release for two weeks is asking for trouble, unless the video is incredible, or are they having trouble with the editing. Or has she hired the management who made such a pigs ear of breaking Little Boots? This is just an attack on Britney Spears and a chance for you to big up your own favourite artists. The point is, you are saying that people on these forums are up in arms because she has coincidentally given the same name to her album as someone else gave one of their songs. If Britney is so out of control of her career and is as braindead as you think, surely this only backs up the idea that her album name has f*** all to do with the kind of music you like and is just a coincidence. She's calling her album Femme Fatale, because that is what her stage persona represents. Not because she's staging an attack on Velvet Underground! I don't get why you are bringing up Madonna, GaGa, Kate Bush - since when has Britney ever done anything to try and "de-throne them" or even said a negative word against them? I just don't understand why Britney becomes the punching bag for advocates of "real music". Britney makes fun, danceable music - she doesn't claim to have re-invented pop, she doesn't do a single thing to attack any other genre. You think she's inauthentic, fine. But in my opinion, she's one of the most authentic artists out there because she simply does not try to be anything that she's not. She's pop, she knows she's pop, and doesn't try to assign any greater significance to it. Unlike music snobs who are convinced their artists are the second coming of Jesus.

Still not feeling this song - it's going down as a turkey for me. Maybe the next single will float my boat more.

Finally, here's the video. It's ok but after two weeks of massive hype over this I'm pretty disappointed. She's done much better.

Absolutely love the video! Especially the fight, the outfits and the paint. The dance-scenes were too heavily edited though - Brian Friedman must be p*ssed off that you can hardly see any of her moves!

They've done an amazing job! And apart from the cheesey sponsors it's flawless! They haven't made videos like this since the 90's!

Spears's manager teases "monster" single
Britney Spears's longtime manager Larry Rudolph has teased that the singer may release another single before the release of her seventh studio album Femme Fatale.
Rudolph made the comments on Thursday following the premiere of the video for Spears's recent number one single 'Hold It Against Me'.
"We have a second song that I think we're gonna end up putting out before the album drops," Rudolph told MTV News. "I can't say with 100% certainty, but I think we probably will.
"But we're talking about it now and it is a monster. I don't think I've been this excited about releasing a Britney single in many, many years.
"It really is amazing. That's all I'm gonna say about it at the moment," Rudolph added.
Femme Fatale is due to be released on March 29.
^I think they should totally do it, cos to be honest, HIAM is ok-ish but not stellar, she really needs a bigger better song, a Britney classic, which HIAM, sadly, is not...

I think it's still too soon to be talking about classics and whatnot, it's not even 2 months hold yet, and I think it's performed as well as any song can with no promo. But I agree they need to put out another single, it's crucial outside the US where HIAM hasn't made much of an impact. And also it's another chance to get a song debut at #1.

Well, everyone who's heard 'Til The World Ends' says it's FANTASTIC, so I'm positive about the song getting a release Pleased that the song is going to hit a million in the US next week, but I still think that if she was out there promoting, she could be hitting 2 million instead. At least we have a confirmed concert on the Today Show
