It seems Brazil spent all the Paralympic funds on the Olympics and still have 88% of tickets left to sell. What a disaster

GB disqualified from the men's 4x400m relay so that Brazil can be in the final due to an "infringement of the rules"

Another day that showcased why sport is so enthralling:-
Nick Skelton wins a nail-baiting gold medal in a jump-off, to become GB's oldest gold medallist for over 100 years.
Then the Women's hockey team battle out a brave draw with the favourites, and show our footballers how to handle a penalty shoot-out. Our team contains the first married couple to win golds in the same event since a pair of sailors in the 1920s.
Later, a brilliant bronze medal for the women's 4x100m relay team. Desiree Henry ran the second leg. Her involvement at the London 2012 Olympics was as one of 7 promising young athletes who had been nominated to light the flame on the cauldron.
And, finally, Lutalo Muhammad gives one of the most heartbreaking tv interviews I've ever seen, having seen his gold medal converted to silver in the final second of his taekwondo final.

Just been catching up with this after taping it over night, the disqualification looks very harsh in the 4x400, as there was also a blatant push on the Indian guy by Venezuela I think? The Americans disqualifcation I could see why it happened, ours I cant see a picture that shows the infringement, so I dont know how it can stand. Women's bronze was also brilliant, he was saying how young they all were, so hopefully ones for the future as well. Women's hockey was utterly brilliant. Did that guy really swing and kick his head in 1 second in the taekwindo? Gutting!

Reading on the bbc site, it says we were outside the zone for passing the baton (Rooney), but he was almost in line with the Bahamas guy, who was doing the same as Rooney, so I just dont get it, their feet were in the same area of the track, and they both started moving away at the same time. Stupid decision.

And it continues! Golds for Liam Heath and Nicola Adams plus a triathlon bronze for Vicky Holland. Our medal tally is now 63, just two short of the total from London.
One big chance gone though as Tom Daley inexplicably fails to qualify for the platform diving final after topping the standings in the prelims.

Meanwhile, Joe Choong has a great medal chance in the modern pentathlon...

Yes, Mo Farah has done it! Gold for the 5,000m to add to his 10,000m Gold. By winning both races he becomes only the second man in history to retain both titles. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/36691466

Mo's preparation and race craft are exemplary. And he comes across so well in interviews too. I'm proud he is a British athlete.
Our taekwondo success has come as a pleasant surprise to me. I need slo-mo replays to be able to see the action, but I can appreciate the balance, reflexes and power of the best competitors.
I'd love to see how long it would take me to paddle a kayak 200m. I suspect Liam Heath might be able to get there-and-back twice in the time it would take me.

It's often been suggested that the Olympic events should include an "average club athlete" just to emphasise how good the real competitors are as it is sometimes hard to appreciate. I saw some of the triathlon on Friday and couldn't help wondering whether that "average athlete" would have finished the swim by the time the Brownleee brothers were crossing the finish line. Talking of the triathlon, Alistair Brownlee completed the last 5,000m in not much more than 15 minutes. Given that he had already completed the swim and the cycle, as well as another 5,000m run, that compares pretty well with Mo Farah's 13 1/2 minutes.
