Oh I did rather enjoy "Happenstance" - nothing particularly breathtaking, but a solid album. Still not looked into anything from "Elephants" yet...will get around to it asap.

I think it's brilliant. Really adore every track! "Farewell To The Fairground" HAS to be a single, if they can squeeze it in amongst the inevitable re-releases. "The Price of Love" is brilliant also.

Kings of Leon's Knocked Up, from Because of the Times. Brilliant song. Perfection! Have you heard the Lykke Li remix?

A lot of these as expected, but a couple of surprises. Beth Rowley getting a nod in British Female is fantastic - I really wasn't expecting that! Surprised to see The Ting Tings in British Album over Adele Scouting For Girls in British Live is a bit of a p*ss take, surely? Not so sure that The Last Shadow Puppets should be in Best Breakthrough - when it's really a side project of two established acts? Thought that would have gone to Glasvegas. And Ian Brown for British Male? Last year maybe, but not this year... I'm guessing when they had the obvious 4 covered they struggled to think of a 5th? Would have been nice to see someone less known like Tom Baxter get a nod. Very pleased that M.I.A. has a nomination as well...even if it's a shame that it took a teen comedy movie to get her here!

Definite nomination for British Male, I'm sure. It's quite thin on the ground in that category this year.

OK - Well I was just assuming that it was simple because I got it, and wouldn't exactly call myself a mathematical genius.
And it's a fair point about them shooting a number of shows in one day, as well... I guess it could take a few weeks to translate with that in mind. Maybe I'm being too resistant to the change...POOR CAROL!

Oh GOD - it's awful It's all so ridiculously false and scripted. I suppose the poor shuffling of the letters hasn't helped. And Rachel's inability to get the very simple numbers game with the 921 target also.

But now she's going to be competing directly with the new Leona record!

Album is top 60 midweeks. I'm not expecting it to generate MGMT type sales... but at least it's getting some much needed exposure.
And I agree about it being better than Fleet Foxes. It really does get better with each listen - which is so rare.

Lady GaGa had better not be in the top 2. Whilst she will be (already is) big - it's a different type of thing really. It's like - you wouldn't put Alexandra Burke on the list, and you know she's going to be big.

I'm sure it will work out fine. I mean - the reason Leona and Leon's albums were released so late is not because they took a year to record, but because they could use The X Factor live shows to launch the records and so target the exact demographic needed to maximise sales. Sales over the Xmas period are much higher also - just look at the sales for Shayne Ward's second album, there's no way he would have achieved that outside of Xmas. But this delayed approach didn't quite work for Leon - and it looks as if he might have been better off with the traditional Mother's Day launch after all. So it's no surprise they're reverting to that. After all, Leona's success was something quite special - what worked for her won't necessarily work for everybody. The Leona record could have been made in a few weeks though - someone else is writing and picking the songs, so the album's all ready to go - it's just a case of recording the vocals. So Alexandra's album could easily be as strong even with the small amount of time available. If it isn't, then it's got nothing to do with the time issues - but more likely that Simon is allowing Leona the pick of the better tracks. I think this will ensure a healthy opening week for Alexandra - over 250K with the right single.

Brilliant pop album - definitley highly recommended from me. Especially if it's going as cheap as £4.99 - definitley in my top 20 of 2008.

Seems to be well regarded on the end of year lists - so could be a good New Year seller?
Beautiful album.

'Vampire Weekend' - Vampire Weekend 7. 'Seventh Tree' - Goldfrapp 8. 'Oracular Spectacular' - MGMT 9. 'The Age of The Understatement' - The Last Shadow Puppets 10. 'Hold On Now, Youngster' - Los Campesinos!
