Just got back from the festival this morning! f***ing terrific weekend! Caught full sets from Alessi's Ark, Golden Silvers, General Fiasco, Dan Black, The Rakes, The Maccabees, N*E*R*D, Fleet Foxes, Little Boots, Jack Penate, Jamie T, Bloc Party, VV Brown, Peter Bjorn and John, The Big Pink, Jason Mraz, The King Blues, The Gaslight Anthem, Passion Pit, Kasabian, Bruce Springsteen, In Case of Fire, Wave Machines, Art Brut, Twisted Wheel, Enter Shikari, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bat for Lashes, Bon Iver and Blur! Wow!
Will try and do a full review at some point - but stand out highlights for me were - naturally - Bruce Springsteen and Blur; both INCREDIBLE! Other star turns - The King Blues, Jack Penate, Jamie T, The Maccabees, Gaslight Anthem and Bon Iver. Amazing, amazing, amazing. Bring on next year!!

My favourite VV single so far. Really summery, huge chorus.
Album's now scheduled for July 20th. Hope we still get it, even if this bombs.

Yeah - I like this too. Her voice sounds great in it, love the lyric changes also. Hope they include it as a B-Side to 'Never Forget You'.

I *love* Pearl's Dream. The whole album is quickly becoming my favourite of the year.
And she is FANTASTIC live. Her voice really is incredible in a live environment. The range and the intensity really surprised me. The new band (including ex-Ash Charlotte Hatherley and New Young Pony Club drummer, Sarah) were really fantastic also.
Radio 2 seem to be giving her a lot of support with this; so if that carries on then she doesn't really need any "hits" as such. Album should be a steady seller over the Summer. And again with the Brits next year. What do we think the chances of another Mercury nomination are?

I need to give it a few more listens...it's just too long to listen to regularly. My initial impressions were a couple of good tracks; and a lot that could have easily been ommitted and used as B-Sides.

Wasn't this released in the UK in March? Download only, I think.
Anyway - I do think it's got a lot of potential. Definitely her most obvious 'hit' - didn't realise it was doing well elsewhere. Maybe that will prompt a re-release? She's revisiting the UK for a tour in September and is doing a few Summer festivals also. Would LOVE to see this album take off. She has been consistently excellent with all three records.

Have my Gloucester tickets. Saw them at V in 2005 - and it was a great, sing-a-long atmosphere. The first two albums are both brilliant in completely different ways. The third, however, I found rather dull. Maybe listened to it twice all the way through? A couple of good tracks that I still listen to, though - "The Outsiders" in particular

I wouldn't be surprised if Carrie finally gets a push following Taylor. "Before He Cheats" would have been a UK hit anyway, I think.

This will be my 5th time at V. I saw him at V last year in the Union tent - and he went down really well. The tent was packed, and everybody seemed to be having a good time. Most of the songs were from "Let It Go"; which hadn't been released at that point - so he was lucky to have such an attentive audience. The sing-a-long for "Leave Right Now" was a highlight of the weekend, though.
I imagine he'll go down even better this year. The Arena tends to get a more mainstream crowd; and the set should be full of hits this time around.

"Vlad The Impaler" is one of my favourite songs of the year so far. This is fantastic also - very excited for the third album!

I liked 'I'm A Rope'. Enjoying this one as well - have heard it a few times on Radio 1, and it was used on The Inbetweeners last night also. Should be a much bigger hit this time.

Yep - love the new album, a favourite of the year so far - every track is perfection. Particularly loving "Siren Song", "Pearl's Dream" and "Two Planets" at the moment.

Might ebay this closer to the time - the top 4 bands main stage on Sunday are all on my 'Must See' list - Radiohead, Bloc Party, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend....worth it for that alone. Quite a few others I'm keen to see - Placebo, Ian Brown, Enter Shikari, The Gossip, Jamie T, The Maccabees, Gallows, The Gaslight Anthem... Carling is always good for new bands especially - so there should be some exciting additions nearer to the time also.

Don't get me started on this! I'm so pi**ed with his label! They forced him down the most predictable/copycat route they could have, basically a Michael Buble rip-off where they should have merketed him as more of an acoustic artist ala James Morrison, Paolo Nutini. For what he was given, he made a very solid album, and if people had the confidence enough to buy it, I don't think they'd have been dissappointed. How can they have exected people to be confident when they give him one of the worst videos I've ever seen, and a really bland first single... They only try releasing one single and they write the album off. Even the best of artists have had flop first albums (Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson) and what if they'd ditched them straight away? I'm not saying Leon Jackson could have been the next Amy Winehouse, god no! But they ruin his first chance, and then refuse to give him a second chance. Such a shame Amy's first album didn't flop really, did it? It still did 250-300K before 'Back To Black' was released, I think. Anyway - let's not pretend Leon didn't get much support. He had an album pretty much made for him, and launched the single in front of ten million people on a Saturday night. The public just weren't interested.

I quite enjoyed 'American Doll Possee' actually - seemed more versatile than anything since 'From The Choirgirl Hotel'. Anyway, I tend to get excited for every Tori release and always end up a little disappointed. I'd love a solid 11 or 12 track album from her with no theme.
