I long hesitated what to say about Erasure's "Always" I mean I loved it back then but retrospectively it sounds sort of cheap. With the type of music they were doing they were always on the verge of sounding cheap but so far have managed to avoid the line where they would fall into cheap electro-pop - it has always been mastered by something extraordinary in their songs. For me they peaked with Circus era and comparing this to "Love To Hate You" it's just a letdown in quality of production.

Well but hail to Counting Crows. Mr. Jones is sheer energy, talent and great vocal performance. Lyrics sometime confuse like "I wanna be a lion" but this is a masterpiece.

This was the first 2 Unlimited song I didn't like even if based on Bach's classic I just thought it was an utter mess.

I always found it strange though how CTD singer pronounces "saw" and "shook" in verses like:
"They saw birthmarks all over her body" or
"They shook and lurched all over the church floor"
As a non-native speaker i just couldn't figure it out without checking the lyrics in a magazine...

Well the justice is done and Pretenders get here what they couldn't get in reality.
Not really keen on this weeks newies. Maybe East 17 rings a bell but no so now I guess it was more in my teenage when I would like this song. But it has some clever production sort of "Deep".

Tons of great stuff entering your chart.
My picks would be Pretenders - one of the highlights of 90s for me. Incredible song. I still cnsider it to be probably one of the best in the decade.
The other would be Mr. Jones. Absolutely admirable recording.

My pick this week would be Desree. Such a brilliant MOR song. Always a pleasure to hear on the radio. Where did she go from there? I can't remember anything else.

I wonder where your obvious love for Roxette will go from here:-) I mean, I love them too but for me Joyride era was their peak and they were downward spiral after that.

Loser's guitar riff is immortal. I always tried to figure out what was he singing in the chorus. Only after many years I learned it was in French or something.

Ooh, Enigma. Such an unusual sound back then when this came out and such a shift from the gregorian chanting. Great video too.

Plush is great and deserves the top spot. I kind a like Leppard's new one too. Creep obviously classic wouldn't offend me if went all the way up.
I was also fond of Duran's output - three singles off the album and all so different.

Shouldn't that Tears for Fears song be "Brake It Down Again" rather than "Bring It"?
Otherwise, I'm so glad you had both Asylum and Blondes take the top spot. Those are great songs. Hope now Haddaway can do it as well.

Some super cracker newies last couple of weeks. I couldn't really pick which of those would go all the way if I was to make my chart.
