Honestly, I also prefer Connells to Blur and Oasis although all of them are fine songs.

It's strange but first time I ever heard Whiskey in the Jar was Metallica's cover and I like it more than the original, sorry about that. Later I became quite a fan of Thin Lizzy but prefer their other material.

You're So Vain is a great song but stopping Superstition if only for a week makes me feel like... come on! :-)

Selling the Drama - such a huge song!
But the rest is dreary so to speak. I never was a huge fan of Foo Fighters even though I tried so hard. I own most of their albums as I have been trying with every new one out.

Good that I never got to making my own charts that deep in the time - only few in 2010-15. If I was to make personal charts in this era I'd had a different no1 a week with so many good songs out. Several candidates among the newies this week - Edwin Collins, U2, Mechanics, Merchant...

OK - wasn't aware of that Born Slippy issue. Thought it was the one from the movie.
And, I forgot about Elton - that is such a nice up-tempo song I quite like.

Tons of memorable new entries - my favorite Green Day song, Sparks, Mark Oh and obviously well deserved Buddy Holly at the top which I prefer to their previous one.
Two songs are just above all - Bjork and Underworld.

Sheriff - will these articles on worst no1s get continued here? Or you spare them for the book released? Not that I always agree with your judgement but I like the tone you set and it is enjoyable reading.

Seems like Green Day rising but shame Human League didn't make it. It was a memorable return.

I have been attedning this local autumn fair in my place and there was this Green Day revival band opening up with Basket Case. It's my favorite from GDs although I like When I Come Around too. Not much after that.

I think Lucky You is for me far the best of the batch of Seeds output.

Aah, such a shame Black Hole Sun didn't make it. It is really a timless classic. You can get any better than that.

Have no recollection of that Reel2Reel newie.
Ace of Base are closing in.
Aswad are superb with this one. Prefer it to their older no1.
Oasis missed me in this era completely and retrospectively I don't like their early stuff at all to be honest.

There's a lots of contempt for CJ Lewis around this place but I have to admit as a summer jolly invitation to a dance in the club during the night out, it worked perfectly. Really loved it in 60s version by Searchers (?) and also in this synth-reagge take. Going fast, no break and the riff is just great too. This, unlike Erasure doesn't sound cheap albeit being a cash-in cover. It's fresh and upbeat.
