Day 3: SHAUN MURPHY 10-5 LYU HAOTIAN MARK SELBY 6-10 JOE O'CONNOR GARY WILSON 5-10 STUART BINGHAM 4-time champion Mark Selby exits in the first round, losing to debutant Joe O'Connor. After the match, Selby once again reiterated his intention to consider his future in the game. Another seed to fall was Gary Wilson, who struggled to get going against 2015 champion Stuart Bingham. No such problems for 2005 winner Shaun Murphy, who put in an impressive performance to beat Lyu Haotian. Nevertheless, of eight completed matches so far, five seeds have been defeated. Other scores: Robert Milkins 4-5 Pang Junxu Mark Williams 5-4 Si Jiahui

Day 2: ALI CARTER 7-10 STEPHEN MAGUIRE JUDD TRUMP 10-5 HOSSEIN VAFAEI TOM FORD 10-6 RICKY WALDEN ZHANG ANDA 4-10 JAK JONES 2019 champion Judd Trump progressed to the last 16 with a comfortable win over Hossein Vafaei, who later said the tournament should move from Sheffield and that the Crucible "smells". Stephen Maguire saw off two-time finalist Ali Carter and could be a very dangerous floater in his half of the draw, Tom Ford beat Ricky Walden to secure his first Crucible win at the fifth attempt and will face Trump next. The best season of Zhang Anda's career ended with a whimper as he was outclassed by Wales' Jak Jones. Other scores: Shaun Murphy 6-3 Lyu Haotian Mark Selby 2-7 Joe O'Connor

Aldershot should be bumped into the playoffs imo, personally what’s the point of Gateshead being in that league if they can’t be promoted? I guess they've been talking to the council for a while to try and come to an agreement and haven't been able to do so. Going forward though, it seems rather pointless. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the players end up at South Shields next season.

The National League have now released a statement confirming Altrincham will receive the bye and Solihull will play Halifax in the playoffs eliminator.

Gateshead have been kicked out of the National League playoffs because they don't have a 10-year tenure on their (absolutely sh*te) ground, as per EFL regulations. They will not be replaced in the playoffs and Solihull Moors have been given a bye to the semi-finals (despite finishing lower than Altrincham, who still have to face Halifax).

Some notes on this year's tournament:
Defending champion Luca Brecel will be hoping to avoid the so-called "Crucible Curse", where no first-time champion at the Crucible has successfully defended the title the following year.
Joe O'Connor is the only debutant this year. He is the 229th player to play in the World Championship at the Crucible. There has been at least one Crucible debutant every year since the tournament moved to Sheffield in 1977. O'Connor will be hoping his first appearance isn't his last and he avoids joining the list of 69 players who have only made one Crucible appearance (some of whom are still active on the Main Tour).
Ronnie O'Sullivan makes his 32nd appearance, extending his own record.
John Higgins makes his 30th appearance, tying Steve Davis for 2nd on the list.
Ali Carter, Stephen Maguire and Mark Selby all reach the 20 appearances milestone. Maguire does so after failing to qualify last year.
Neil Robertson misses out for the first time since 2004. It's the first time since 2000 the tournament hasn't featured an Australian player.
Dominic Dale makes his first appearance since 2014. The 10-year gap for consecutive appearances is three short of the record held by Jamie Burnett.
Based on rankings, the field is very strong this year, with Robbie Williams, ranked 45 in the world, the lowest ranked player in the tournament.
With £500,000 to the winner, there are 8 players in with a chance of finishing the tournament at no.1 in the rankings. Because he's defending his ranking points from two years ago, Ronnie O'Sullivan must win the tournament to remain at no.1. Even that won't be enough if Mark Allen reaches the final. Judd Trump, Luca Brecel, Mark Selby, Shaun Murphy, Ding Junhui and Mark Williams all have a mathematical chance of being no.1, though in the case of the latter three, they would have to win the tournament, with everyone above them losing in the 1st round.
Paul Collier will referee the final for the fourth and final time. This is his last tournament as a referee before he switches to a new permanent role as Tournament Director on the professional tour.
All-time appearance leaders (including this year): 32 - Ronnie O'Sullivan 30 - Steve Davis, John Higgins 27 - Stephen Hendry 26 - Mark Williams 25 - Jimmy White 24 - Peter Ebdon 23 - John Parrott 22 - Shaun Murphy 21 - Alan McManus 20 - Ali Carter, Graeme Dott, Stephen Maguire, Mark Selby 19 - Ken Doherty, Terry Griffiths, Neil Robertson, Willie Thorne 18 - Mark Allen, Stuart Bingham, Ding Junhui, Barry Hawkins, Matthew Stevens, Dennis Taylor
All-time number of players by nationality: 116 - England 22 - Wales 21 - Scotland 17 - China 10 - Canada, Ireland 9 - Northern Ireland 5 - Australia, Thailand 3 - South Africa 2 - Malta 1 - Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, Hong Kong, Iceland, Iran, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland

The lead single from their new album "Romance", which will be their fourth in the space of five years.
Another change in direction for them. This one seems very Kasabian.

I haven't really thought about Havenvision yet. I don't really like running it at the same time of other competitions and the Pick of the Pops competition at the start of the year has pushed everything back. Plus, I'm probably moving house soon so not sure how much free time I'll have.
