This starts in 10 days time, taking place in Australia and New Zealand. BBC, and for the first time, ITV are showing the tournament, with every game live in some form.
The USA start as favourites once again, having won the last two World Cups. England are second favourites, having followed back-to-back semi-final appearances with winning last year's European Championship. However, could injuries to key players damage the Lionesses' chances. Germany and Sweden should be strong again. France and Spain continue to improve. Canada are always difficult to beat and won gold at the last Olympics (where the women's football tournament features senior sides, rather then U23s). The hosts, particularly Australia, can't be ruled out of having a deep run in the tournament.
This is the first women's World Cup to feature 32 teams and as a result, there are no fewer than eight teams making their debut.
Because the tournament is being held across two countries, there are two distinct halves of the draw, meaning it's not possible for any two teams to meet in the final. This is to ensure Australia and New Zealand continue to play their matches at home if they reach the knockout stages and to minimise the travelling for the other teams. New Zealand will host the opening game of the tournament where they'll take on former champions Norway at Eden Park. Australia also play on the opening day, facing Ireland in Sydney's Stadium Australia, which will also host the final on 20th August.
Group-by-group preview coming up.

Fancied England to win at Headingley from the moment the 2nd test finished. Old Trafford will be a different prospect. Anderson in for Robinson seems likely. Foakes in for Bairstow should happen but probably won't. I fancied England to win at Headingley from the moment today when Carey failed to run out Brook during the lunch interval. As for the next test, I think Bairstow should be moved into the top 3 batting order (possibly have him open with Crawley dropping down to 3); and Foakes brought in as a wicketkeeper. But who gets dropped if Foakes and Bairstow both play?

From the current lineup, the only logical choice is Root, even though it's not his preferred position.

Meanwhile at Lord's, England women beat Australia in the 3rd T20 to take the series 2-1 and reduce the deficit in the Ashes to 6-4 with the 3 ODIs left to play.

Saw an amazing stat the other day relating to England's previous Euro U21 final appearance in 2009, when they lost 4-0 to Germany. 6 members of that German squad went on to win the World Cup in 2014. 7 members of the England squad went on to play for Sunderland.

Real shame there's no highlights show to see the 6 wickets falling and 108 runs Australia make as well as the 27 England made without loss. There is always a highlights show. Test matches in England are on the b-list of protected events, meaning highlights must be available on free-to-air TV.

Not saying it was a weak month but anything from May's top 10 probably would've topped June's chart.

Root and Bairstow stay until lunch tomorrow. Stokes comes in and blasts a quick 50. Moeen and Woakes add some useful runs as well. England all out for 450 towards the close. Aussies reduced to 40-6 on Saturday in between the showers. England win by an innings. Job done. Replace "stay until" with "get out before" and Woakes with Wood and I'm pretty much spot on so far
