Not a marked upturn in quality? No. Mind you I liked Hard Candy and all it's tracks whereas most people didn't rate it. hard candy was better than confessions in my opinion. 4 minutes was ok, give it to me, was quite good, miles away was great, but i also loved devil wouldn't recognise you... miles away (johny vicious remix) = incredible x

na miles away is great. glad there's no homage to american life (bar hollywood)
revolver's the lil' wayne one, so she's releasing a coad type track, then a Hip-Hop track to accompany the album....
well i've heard both, and they;re both mediocre (albeit, revolver is without madonnas vocals as yet...the copy ive heard...)

Scotland's biggest music festival, T in the Park has announced the first 3 acts on its 2009 line-up: Kings Of Leon, Snow Patrol and Katy Perry. Now, I'm a Snow Patrol fan, and I don't mind the other 2 at all... but IMO this is an absolutely pathetic start to what is normally one of the best UK festivals! This is why. KINGS OF LEON - Headlining the Main Stage on Friday. This will be the 3rd year in a row they've played T, and they've moved 1 slot up the bill every year. OK, they're hot property right now, but show some imagination please!! SNOW PATROL - Headlining the Main Stage on Sunday. That's the exact same slot they had in 2007, and many people said they didn't deserve to close the festival, especially as they were on after the Scissor Sisters (I like both acts incidentally, but I thought SS should have headlined). Snow Patrol's latest album has not been that well received - so if they seen as a weak headliner 2 years ago, what does that say for now??? KATY PERRY - Headlining the Radio 1/NME Stage on Saturday. WTF??? Last year this stage's headliners were Chemical Brothers, Kaiser Chiefs and The Prodigy. Do I really need to say any more? I think this is a disgrace, and a massive insult to all those who bought early bird tickets last summer, simply because they always expect a quality line-up from T. If I had a ticket I'd be very tempted to flog it based on that first announcement!!!! you say this but glasto has laready also sold out, who can we expect, people say bruce blur whoever, but to be honest it wcould bbe anyone. it could be girls aloud (friday) , spinal tap (saturday reformed like today opr something) and lily allen sunday - now look i love change and everything, but ANYTHING could happen with glasto too! GOod acts...but not as headliners, you wanna see a coldplay, kol, foos, rhcp's, kanye, madonna, kylie (if they're changing direction a lot), michael jackson, u2, muse, radiohead etc...all would suit me fine.l actually as woudl the reformed blur,...x but there really is a genuine danger that we'll see: JLS headlining the Radio 1 stage with Geraldine McQueen popping on just before... ahhhh 5am rants arent as great in words as they sound in your headdddd...

What's slightly worrying is the self-referential nature of the list. The Beeb canvasses a few dozen industry figures and they pick out a number of acts. Said acts therefore get publicity and airplay and therefore success is guaranteed. Look at the success for Adele and Duffy et al last year; all got significant airplay before release because of this list. The only acts that did not get instant succes (e.g. Joe Lean) were the ones that were ignored, and even they were more successful than they would have been had they been one of the thousands of acts releasing material without at least the name mention. Are those industry figures REALLY better arbiters of taste and judges of talent? Or creating a self-perpetuating prophecy? I understna dwhat you're saying, but even if we look recently...2007 even....(i've rated the top ten with levels of success; +++++ being very successful, + being not so successful) Sound of 2007 1. Mika [glow=red,2,300]+++++[/glow] 2. The Twang [glow=red,2,300]++[/glow] 3. Klaxons [glow=red,2,300]+++[/glow] 4. Sadie Ama [glow=red,2,300]+[/glow] 5. Enter Shikari[glow=red,2,300] +++[/glow] 6. Air Traffic[glow=red,2,300] ++[/glow] 7. Cold War Kids[glow=red,2,300] +[/glow] 8. Just Jack [glow=red,2,300]+++[/glow] 9. Ghosts [glow=red,2,300]+[/glow] 10. The Rumble Strips [glow=red,2,300]+[/glow] with 08 (measured on success of single and album, largely on appearance in top 100 singles/albums of 08) 1. Adele +++++ 2. Duffy +++++ 3. Ting Tings +++++ 4. Glasvegas ++ 5. Foals ++ 6. Vampire Weekend +++ 7. Joe Lean + 8. Black Kids +(+) 9. MGMT +++ 10. Santogold ++ so it doesn't really show the relative levels of acts that will make it each year...by faaar in some cases...

Well that date has been around since the album became available to pre-order after she won, but perhaps it's not the finalised date. well that date was 'fixed' (by which i mean quoted), from the week the hallelujah single release caused controversy cause everyone thought that diana had already made it her own...x

Gaga is most likely to be successful following huge support from radiuo and huge success inteh states. but iu think florence will meet a similar success to glasvegas....critical acclaim, one top ten single (maybe two) but not huge huge. vv brown, could be a one-hit wonder tooo x
