About time we had some "Worst Of" threads! I thought about doing one for 2021 but really it would've just consisted of "Higher Power". can we have a top 10 worst Coldplay list 😃

I like a lot of the songs on your list, but it's total sacrilege putting that John Lennon song in there, I mean, how could you???
Whilst the Grandma song is obviously a contender for number one there is another UK #1 that year that you could say is worse as it's an attempt to be a serious song.

I'm wondering if Emotional Rescue or Army Dreamers will be in here, both songs that got me knocked out of Haven Factor...

"Love Patrol", "Do That To Me One More Time" and "Suddenly" were # 1s in my chart.

My dislike of solo John Lennon does make me unpopular , think there is only 1 or .2 songs I like of his and as I said I detest ‘Imagine’

30 A Walk In The Park - Nick Straker
I really not sure what annoys me about this song the most. I guess the chorus is actually ok. I think its that kitchen sink production, oh its got a guitar solo oh sorry Nick, I have been maybe a bit harsh placing you #30. But really its not very good is it?

29 Morning Train (Nine to Five) - Sheena Easton
I will start by saying I loved Sheena Easton but I was never much of a fan of this one, 'Modern Girl' still sounds great this is really so dated and nobody shoudl be listening to this in 2021. Could anyone has guessed she would be a megastar based on this song??? Er no deffo not!

28 Crying - Don McLean
I dont what it is with this one either, It just really annoys me so much, think I have bad memories associated with it. The Roy Orbison version is so much better in every way, I can't say anything that Don has added to this to make this cover worthy in anyway, its just there. Existing is in some ways a worst thing that me really hating something. This is just pointless.

27 Take That Look Off Your Face - Andrew Lloyd Webber, Marti Webb
Nothing against Marti Webb, Im sure she is a nice person and she has a decent voice, its just me I really dont like musicals especially Andrew Lloyd Webber ones and this is just torture to me.

26 Gee Whiz - Bernadette Peters
Now I said I wasn't going to include any obscurities but this US hit is just so awful I couldn't ignore it. Its like proto Mariah Carey and worse than anything she ever did. The lyrics are just total pain. If anyone caught me in a slow dance to this, I would probably just have to run out to the toilet, Im sorry I couldnt kiss anyone with this horror playing.

25 I Love a Rainy Night - Eddie Rabbitt
Now I usually agree with Katie Puckrik's taste in late 70s and 80s music but I just couldnt agree with her on this. This soft rock meets country song just rubs me the wrong way, I dont know why. I feel I should like this but I can't sorry. Also again #25 is maybe a bit harsh, thsi is 10x better than the last song. Lets not worry to much about the positions yet.

24 Babooshka - Kate Bush
Damn lost my whole post. Ok lets try and recreate that. I hated Kate Bush when I was young, everything she did but in my 20s I reappraised her and came to like many of her songs. Not this though, never this. It is horrible, the video doesn't help. Cant believe I just listened to the whole song. The breaking glass is the best part as thats how this song makes me feel and as for the sinister man at the end why!!!!

23 I Pledge My Love - Peaches & Herb
Bleurghh!!! Oh this is really really bad. So much disco music is really good but disco ballads, they are almost always awful and this has to be one of the worst. Oh I have to stop this now!!

22 Blue Moon - Showaddywaddy
I hated Showaddywaddy when I was a kid more than just about any band in this time period. They were awful in every way and nobody needed them, look at this video. They should be deleted from musical history. I am sorry for even mentioning them.

21 Ne-Ne, Na-Na, Na-Na, Nu-Nu - Bad Manners
The second act to have 2 songs on the list and I warned you this was even worse. Really who bought this!! Its just noises, they are funny on TOTP but this isnt even music and its certainly not singing. They can do so much better' eg 'Lip Up Fatty' out this year!

20 The Wanderer - Donna Summer
Sometimes a song isnt just bad, it is very disappointing from an artist you normally like. We got this right in the UK ignoring this but somehow this was a US top 10 hit. It is really bad for Donna Summer and again apologise for dredging this up. What even is it, is it a rock song, a disco song, what is it?? If it had been a Dion cover that would have been something.

I liked Showaddywaddy but by the time of Blue Moon you just didn't care anymore. They did the Marcels adaptation of the song but it was just a carbon copy - when the Marcels did it, it was an interesting interpretation so a great cover, but this was not.
Donna Summer is not a cover of Dion of course..
but the Bad Manners song is also a cover albeit the original is far less known - Dickey Doo And The Don'ts, with a ska feel to it, a bit like Hoots Mon which was out the same year, almost surprising that didn't get a hit cover (it was covered by a band called Scotch Mist at the time but wasn't a hit for them).
But I love Babooshka! It was my sing-off song and lost by 1 vote to Roxette. I've no doubt which one you voted for based on the above.

19 Longer - Dan Fogelberg
Another huge US hit but this time it was surprising it wasn't a hit here as well. Think its meant to be soft rock but its more MOR, it is just so wet, it makes Chicago look like Black Sabbath. He is a good singer and its actually quite a nice song but its just wallpaper, soggy overpasted wallpaper, sludge for AM radio.
