Ok lets start the top 10
10 (I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone - Sex Pistols
I've never really been a Sex Pistols fan, I like a couple of their songs but this cover is awful. I am just glad I never heard it before this weekend. Must admit on 3rd listen its starting to grow on me hehe

9 Worzels Song - Jon Pertwee
Not every song in Worsel Gummidge was awful but this is absoluiely unlistenable. I really didn't think it was going to be this bad I must have been thinking off another song. Make it stop!

8 What's Another Year - Johnny Logan
Yes Earl Purple called it. I think I didin't mind this at the time and was quite happy he won but I can't bear this now. Will we see him again later maybe but 1986 will have more competition for bad music than 1980 did so 'Hold Me Now' may miss the cut

I'd tend to ignore novelty songs that weren't huge hits, so similar that Bucket Of Water song that was a hit around the same time as the Worzel Gummidge one.

7 The Sunshine of Your Smile - Mike Berry
More Worzel Gummidge alumni but really he is Mr Spooner. And he should stick to comedy, this is pain of the highest order.Nobody should have to hear this in 1980 never mind 2022. A real crime against music.

6 D.I.S.C.O - Ottawan
I know this is a really obvious one. And to make matters worse I think I bought this!!! The song is a virus. It was worse than a virus, it was completely everywhere so much that you could not go through a day without hearing it. Its a fun party record and for that it is spared the top 5.

5 Captain Beaky - Captain Beaky
Now this was aimed out our age group and we hated it, so no idea what adults thought of it. I think it was even tied into BBC school lessons, it was torture. Is this a novelty? I guess but its a very weird one.

4 More Than I Can Say - Leo Sayer
Oh Leo I think I have been a bit harsh on you, this maybe shoudnt be so high but again its a case of not being able to avoid it that was the biggest annoyanace. I think I just object to Leo Sayer in principle and we just didnt want anymore of him in the 80s. Thats it really, we had enough, I had enough.

I thought you might include Captain Beaky, it's on my playlist now. I was nearly 15 at the time, it was clearly just different, and the cult became "Hissing Sid Is Innocent" t-shirts.

3 It's Hard to Be Humble - Mac Davis
Ok the top 2 are obvious now but I am thinking in some ways this is maybe worse than one of them. I had to listen to a lot of country music when I was a kid, some was great, most was ok but sadly a lot was awful, like this!! This TOTP version is even worse than the record with the crowd participation!! Just horrible!

Leo Sayer peaked at #2 in my chart twice (Moonlightin' and You Make Me Feel Like Dancing) and twice at #3 (The Show Must Go On and Long Tall Glasses)
Not sure how he'll do with that song, or Matchbox with their Crickets cover which may or may not show up here (I would have expected it a bit lower if it was going to show).

All those songs he recorded and only 2 UK hits for Mac Davis.. He did write "In The Ghetto" though, a great song by Elvis Presley.

2 Together We Are Beautiful - Fern Kinney
It is scary that I very nearly made this number one but the fact I can listen to this and not the song that is still too come means there could only be one song at the top. I hope 1981 isn't as predictable. Again this is another one of those dismal slow rnb songs which just made me ill and still does. A Uk Number one!! as is the song to come!!

The worst song of 1980
There's No One Quite Like Grandma - St. Winifred's School Choir
I refuse to listen to more than a few seconds. There is nothing I need to say!

1981 will be predictable if Joe Dolce is at the top although I'd put the Capstick rubbish and Teddy Bear by Red Sovine as even worse than that one.
Also Julio Iglesias and Cliff's "Daddy's Home".
Not sure how you'll deal with all those medleys either.
