I have very high tolerance to music thats why I havent tried doing this before, and yeh I totally get why people like these. I do tthink you have an even higher tolerance than I do as you are consistently the only person who says they can vote for everything in TM for example. I have tried to be as harsh as I can

I have tried to be as harsh as I can You're right, I do have a very high tolerance level for music in that I find it hard to dislike something once I have got to know the tune to it! I think I would struggle to find 50 songs I don't like from the entire 80s.

The worst song of 1980There's No One Quite Like Grandma - St. Winifred's School Choir I refuse to listen to more than a few seconds. There is nothing I need to say! I can't argue much with that decision. Still it did provide this great TV moment:
However, I have to say I'm stunned this was not in your list:
^ I don't mind the bird noises, but the hideous backing muzak belonging to a TV instrumental backing of a Barbara Cartland romance novel makes me want to vomit.

'And The Birds Were singing' were #56 so pretty close, if it meant more to me it might have made the cut luckily I had forgotten it

Ok lets kick of 1981, The standard is much lower or should I say higher, could have made this a Top 60 and still been way worse than the #50 in 1980
So a few artists get a lucky escape with some real dregs
50 Guilty (feat. Barry Gibb) - Barbra Streisand, Barry Gibb 49 Japanese Boy - Aneka 48 It's My Turn - Diana Ross 47 Cool Love - Pablo Cruise 46 Memory - Elaine Paige 45 John I'm Only Dancing - The Polecats 44 The One That You Love - Air Supply 43 Some Days Are Diamonds (Some Days Are Stone) - John Denver 42 (Si, Si) Je Suis Un Rock Star - Bill Wyman 41 Living Inside Myself - Gino Vannelli
Love/Hate song has to be this, My mum even knew her IRL

40 Stars On 45 - Stars On 45
Will try not to have too many megamixes songs but we need to have the master of them all. It actually spoiled all these songs for me in that I expected the next Star On 45 track to follow. But they are all good songs but megamixes are evil in principle.

39 Hot Love - Kelly Marie
When you make the same song again but somehow make it 10x worse the 2nd time. But she was our diva so should be nice.

38 Queen Of Hearts - Juice Newton
This has been an education already for me, not only did I not know who Juice Newton was but she somehow has 2 songs in this top 40 that tormented my dreams in 1981. The pain of having a dad who listened to country. This isn't that horrible compared to the one still too come. Think this is growing on me... stop!!

36 You Drive Me Crazy - Shakin' Stevens
Shaky has 4 songs on the long list, he has one more too come, will not spoil the surprise. I hated Shaky in 1981 but I am much nicer to him now, I really have mellowed but this isn't very good at all.

35 Lately - Stevie Wonder
I am all over the place with Stevie in the 80s, this is is only entry in the top 50. 'Happy Birthday' was #68. Its just too schmaltzy for me but he has done much much worse as we will here in future lists.

Air Supply are good, how you can put them in your top 50 again?
I hope you'll do some 1970s years too, but would Dave Edmunds' "Queen Of Hearts" be on your 1979 list?

As I said Air Supply make Chicago look like Black Sabbath. I love AOR but if you go to far down the soft ballad route you end up MOR and that’s not a good thing. Air Supply made one great song and try to replicate it again and again, at least Chicago had some real rock heritage before they became simpering ballad makers. They are just too soft for me that’s all, each to their own. there is no right or wrong , like cmon one of my contenders for worst song of 1981, is held up as a masterpiece by John Peel and music critics, to me it’s just annoying noise. It’s my opinion and how music affects me personally. Most of this list isnt that bad, if it was I wouldn’t be able to play them as I make a post, only St Winifred’s in 1980 I couldn’t play at all.

I have many of their albums and they made a lot of great songs, but yes they were "soft" rock, not heavy, although not all their songs were ballads, they did a few more uptempo ones (of which "This Heart Belongs To Me" is a good example).

I can only go by what I hear, and I have only heard about 6 of their songs by the way all of which are on my Ultimate 80s playlist. It’s just been two songs, that I picked in a day and made a list in an hour, I hardly listened to everybody’s back catalogue first. It’s not like I included ‘I’m All Out Of Love’ then I’d understand. I gave each song on the long list a score and that’s how they fell. No doubt if you made a list you’d put something I like in it, it’s just the way it is. It’s just a bit of fun.
