Bit of a collapse And Pakistan will be past our total at the end of day 3? Then see what happens on day 4 & 5? At their current rate, they'll still be well behind at the end of day 3. England scored at 6.5 runs per over. Pakistan are currently scoring at a rate of 3.55.

Some important late wickets for England on day 3 to give themselves a chance of victory. Pakistan closed on 499-7. If England can get the tail out quickly on day 4, then blast a rapid score like they did in the 1st innings, they'll have four or five sessions to try and bowl Pakistan out again. A draw still the most likely outcome but England look the only team that can win the match from here.

Those extra 82 runs for the last 3 weeks and our collapse chasing runs have probably scuppered any chance of a win. Lead by 300+ but only 5 weeks remaining and they include Anderson and Leach! Basically Livingstone and Robinson left to get us to a safe total Pakistan cant catch on the last day.

With 15 mins to tea on Day 4. England are 253-6 after 34 overs! A lead of 331.
This in incredible cricket.

Basically Livingstone and Robinson left to get us to a safe total Pakistan cant catch on the last day. England's mentality in test cricket under McCullum is totally different to previous regimes. Whereas in the past it was about not losing, it's now about doing whatever it takes to get into a position to win, even if that increases the risk of defeat. England have given themselves a great chance to win. There's a chance for Pakistan too if they're brave enough to have a go, but that would also play into England's hands. As raliverpool says, it's incredible to watch.

Wow! Pakistan looked in a strong position as well last time I checked, 99 needed with 5 wickets left, that's a major collapse. 9-4! Like you say great to watch, and even better when you win.

Absolutely outstanding performance by England. Such an aggressive outlook to go for the win even at the risk of losing the match. It’s such a refreshing outlook.
This caught my eye in the BBC reporting.
England plundered 921 runs in 136.5 overs at a scoring rate of 6.73, the fastest of any team batting twice in Test history. The 506-4 runs they racked up on day one is a Test record.

A bit of a different start to the 2nd test. England all out for 281 with spinner Abrar Ahmed taking 7-114 on his debut. Pakistan 107-2 at the close.
The pitch seems to be offering more than in the 1st test though England still scored at more than 5.5 runs per over.

England on top at the end of day 2 after Pakistan collapsed from 142-2 to 202 all out. Four wickets for Leach and two for Root but the pace bowlers had success too. England 202-5 at the close, a lead of 281.

All to play for on day 4. England collapsed from 256-5 to 275 all out. That left Pakistan chasing 355 to win and they reached 198-4 at the close.

England win a thriller to clinch the series in Pakistan. Pakistan threatened an unlikely win but Ollie Robinson took the final wicket to give England victory by 26 runs. It's the first time England have won two tests in the same series in Pakistan.

Interesting first day of the final test in Pakistan. Spinner Rehan Ahmed became England's youngest male test cricketer, beating Brian Close's record and took two wickets on his debut as Pakistan were all out for 304. Jack Leach became the first spinner to open the bowling for England in the 1st innings of a test since 1921. 18-year-old Ahmed got the call with Jimmy Anderson rested, while wicketkeeper Ben Foakes also returned to the lineup in place of Will Jacks. England were 7-1 at the close with Crawley out for 0.

England on the verge of a 3-0 series victory in Pakistan.
England made 354 in reply to Pakistan's 304, with Harry Brook making 111 and fifties for Pope and Foakes. Pakistan were all out for 216 on day 3, with Rehan Ahmed becoming the youngest player to take a 5-for on his test debut. Chasing 167 to win, England reached 112-2 at the close (having sent Ahmed in to bat at 3!).

England took just 40 minutes this morning to wrap up an 8-wicket win and a magnificent 3-0 series victory.
Next up for the test side are two tests in New Zealand in February, then a one-off test against Ireland in June, ahead of the Ashes.
Meanwhile, the women are currently on tour in the West Indies, where they've been absolutely dominant, winning the ODI series 3-0 and currently 4-0 up in the T20 series.

England's two-test series in New Zealand underway today. England batted first in the day/night test after losing the toss and declared on 325-9 having scored at their usual rapid rate. Brook made 89 and Duckett made a quickfire 84 having opened the batting. New Zealand struggled under the lights and were 37-3 at the close.
Meanwhile, the women's T20 World Cup is taking place in South Africa. Australia are strong favourites to win but England have started well, winning their opening two games against the West Indies and Ireland, with games against India and Pakistan still to come. The other group features Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, with the top 2 qualifying for the semi-finals.

Finely poised after day 2 after Tom Blundell's century helped NZ recover from 182-7 to 306 all out, just 19 behind England. England batted better under the lights than the hosts did on day 1, reaching 79-2 at the close.

England close to victory against NZ after day 3. Broad was devastating under the lights bowling four NZ batsmen to reduce them to 28-5, chasing 394 for victory. The hosts managed to reach 63-5 at the close.
With 1002 wickets between them when they've played together, the Stuart Broad-Jimmy Anderson partnership is now the most successful in the history of test cricket.
