If you want to stay up, then Burnley are the sort of team you need to be beating, but this is Newcastle we are talking about. Stags still aren't safe, but hopefully Southend and Grimsby will carry on being worse than us, because I dont know where our next win is coming from. Bit worrying that Clough cant get these players playing, because half of them will still be here next season as well. Exeter Newport and Stevenage next three games for us, = 0 points. We need to be beating the teams around us but once again we keep coming up short.
Hopefully Mansfield will be safe.

I only found out the other day that Rebecca Welch lives in the same town as me. I must admit I don't recognise her nor had heard of her until recently. She's a very good ref, one of several women I've seen take charge of Marske United games during my time watching them. Another was Lucy Oliver (nee May), who is the wife of Premier League ref Michael Oliver. The fact Rebecca Welch has gone from assistant ref at step 7 to Football League ref in little under a decade shows how highly regarded she is.

Here's a date for the diary.
On 3rd May the 2020 FA Trophy Final will be played at Wembley.
One of the clubs in the final is Concord Rangers, who won't have played a competitive fixture since February.
The other might have just earned promotion to League One - Harrogate Town.
Harrogate qualified for the final while they were still in the National League. And Concord, from the NL South, got to the final without being drawn against a NL team.
On paper, it will be hopelessly one-sided...

And nobody can watch it, despite there being at best 5000 fans that would like to. Would have been the perfect event to socially distance a small group of fans and see how it goes. And no chance of Town going up now, but a good 1st season in the football league. Probably would have been better if they'd kept their "plastic" pitch, which they'd played on for two seasons previously.

It breaks rule 1 though "your only allowed out the house if your putting money in a rich mans pocket", bet your allowed fans in the FA cup final, the FA Trophy is for fans, where's the financial gain!!

So the "big 6" have announced their intention to join the new European Super League, along with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Inter and Juventus.
They should be thrown out of the Premier League with immediate effect.

And all player registrations cancelled, work permits revoked, and Stamford Bridge seized as proceeds of criminal activity.

Hopefully it goes ahead, kick them out and the cancer that is greed along with it. Let them play each other in Saudi Arabia imfront of no real fans. I'm sorry when Harry Maguire is going for 85m and Messi is on 500m over 4 years you cant say there's "not enough money in football"
Let them play in their sterile, meaningless bubble until it pops, best for everyone else to get out and play in a sustainable league. I'd even use this as an oprtunity to merge Scottish teams into the British game. Celtic and Rangers are bigger teams anyway
This has been a long time coming, I just can't see people being interested in Arsenal v AC Milan. Its not 2005 anymore, both teams are terrible. Woo bottom v second bottom, Granit Xhaka signing his new 900k a week contract, this is fun
I think they expect fans to pay 2/3/4× more than they already are to fund it but there's not the talented players to make it work imo, Arsenal can't even beat Fulham and 4 of the 6 English teams are worse than bloody West Ham this season who are managed by David Moyes
No amount of extra money can help. They will just be paying double for a Harry Maguire. He will cost 170m instead of 85m. I think they are mad

What's wrong with the way the Champions League works now? Paris Saint Germain are in the semi-final of the CL because they qualified for it.

What's wrong with the way the Champions League works now? Paris Saint Germain are in the semi-final of the CL because they qualified for it. Isn't it obvious what's wrong ? At least two of Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool will not be playing in the Champions League next season. Which means they won't be loading their own coffers. They should all, by divine right, be guaranteed a place in the Champions League because their billionaire owners say so.

Nothing wrong with it in football terms but if your an American investment banker who wants more money then the franchise model makes financial sense, there's billions of untapped potential there and we have a mix of highly influential chairman at these teams so they can make it happen. Its to put more money in shareholders pockets at the end of the day, they don't care if it destroys the football league. Football to them is a 20 team bubble

Are PSG and Bayern going to join it? It will all come down to the TV companies though wont it? If they pull out or end their billion ££ deals for the Champions League and Premier League, then it will all go pop, and if they pay to televise those games instead? Personally I dont give a monkeys, I watch the games if they are on, but can take it or leave it, but it was always on the cards the greed begets greed. Ripping up player contracts is unfair as it isn't the players doing this, but their rich club owners. As for Rangers and Celtic going into our leagues, you are then destroying the Scottish league, which is quite funny as you're against them destroying the Premier League? And if that did ever happen, both of them would have to go into League 2 and work their way up, because at best they would be a Championship/Promotion/Relegation each season. They are not actually that good if they were playing better sides each week.

German football puts fans before profits which is why their clubs seemingly want no part of this. The French clubs apparently collectively said no but I find it hard to believe PSG won't break ranks eventually.

I heard that PSG aren't in it yet because they're owned by people who also own BeIn Sports, so there's some sort of business clash.

As an Arsenal fan, I'm absolutely appalled by this. As if it wasn't bad enough that Kroenke is driving Arsenal down with his mismanagement of the team at board level, he's also part of a cabal that wants to destroy what's left of the integrity of European football competition as a whole.
I wanted us to be back competing with the best in Europe, but not like this. Never in a closed shop. The UEFA proposals for an expanded Champions League with two teams qualifying based on coefficient was bad enough.
I agree that if this actually goes ahead, the teams involved should no longer be in the Premier League. I would cancel my club membership.

I applaud your statement frag. All too often we have seen football fans endlessly complaining about the price of tickets and replica kits, but still renewing their season tickets and buying the new shirt each year. I suspect the vast majority of fans of the Big 6 feel the same way as you at the moment, but a huge number will still pay to subscribe to the club's tv channel and buy tickets for the ESL matches if/when it happens. I've never quite understood why fans remain so loyal to a club which very rarely takes their thoughts into account. Why anyone from Lancashire still supports Man Utd after they way the club has treated them for decades bewilders me. But then, if your team wins more often than it loses, it becomes easier to dispense with principles.
