^^^ I was speculating today that the GB men's and women's teams would probably attract a lot of interest if they went on a UK tour playing a series of exhibition matches against each other. I'd certainly travel 45-60 minutes to Nottingham or Sheffield Ice Arenas to see them in action. I'd agree on that it could be very popular. Am I the only one who remembers in the aftermath of Rhona Martin's Team taking Gold in 2002, there was some charity event (possibly for Sports Relief where a bunch of male athletes/celebs took on a team of female athletes/celebs). I distinctly remember Darts greatest ever Phil "The Power" Taylor being brilliant at it and pretty much winning it on his own, and you could see the Curling coaches were genuinely in awe at how good he was in such a quick period of training time.

Well the way they were going on about her on Five Live after today's victory makes me sick - they have incredibly short memories. Yes, it's absolutely pathetic how the Woman's Curling Team ranked 3rd in the world (going by numerous tournaments played over a 2 year period) finished 3rd in their sport, equalling the result expected of them. Especially pathetic seeing how they lost to Canada in the Semi Finals who went through the entire tournament including winning the Gold Medal this afternoon, winning every single one of their 11 matches. Seriously rubcale, the rubbish you have spouted on this belongs to the average xenophobic "IngurLand" football supporter ... Well, that's how I feel about it - we're too happy to brush failure under the carpet. I don't believe in or expect automatic victory but when somebody messes up why not call a spade a spade?

Curling final underway. Canada 2-0 up after the first end but looked like it was going to be much worse until a great final shot from David Murdoch. GB with the hammer in the 2nd.

GB almost level things up in the 2nd but Murdoch can't quite take the Canadian stone out completely with the final shot and it's just 1. Canada 2-1 up after 2 ends with the hammer in the 3rd.

GB's nervous start continues as Canada pick up 3 in the 3rd end and lead 5-1. GB with the hammer in end 4.

A steal for Canada in the 4th extends their lead to 6-1. GB retain the hammer.

Watching the ladies' biathlon at the moment and wondering what is intrinsically 'winter sports' about the shooting component of this sport?

GB get one back in the 5th but trail 6-2 at the halfway stage and Canada will have the hammer.

Quite a vigorous response to someone who merely expressed an opinion on the ladies' curling team's performance in the event.
Seems out of proportion but ......

GB miss a chance for 2 in the 7th end and are limited to 1. 8-3 to Canada and it's pretty much over. The match probably won't go 10 ends now.
