34. GET TOGETHER (544 points)
A bit of a surprise this one.. I didn't realise it was so popular. Anyway, this was the third single to be taken from 'Confessions On A Dancefloor' and it failed to repeat the #1 success of the first 2 singles, instead having to settle for a #7 peak.

33. DIE ANOTHER DAY (552 points)
Another surprise for me (albeit a pleasant one)... I've heard this slagged off on so many occasions I assumed for a while that it was almost universally hated. In case you'd been living on another planet it's Madonna's venture into the Bond theme territory from 2002 and, although it may be no 'Nobody Does It Better' or 'Live And Let Die', it's a lot better than some of the critics would like you to believe - with some even citing it the worst Bond theme of all-time.

32. BEAUTIFUL STRANGER (589 points)
Taken from the Austin Powers movie, The Spy Who Shagged Me (which is 'loosely' continuing the Bond theme from the last song), this was a massive #2 hit for Maddie in 1999 when she was still riding high on the crest of public opinion after the success of the 'Ray Of Light' album. It's another William Orbit produced track, although with more of a psychedelic edge.

31. DROWNED WORLD/SUBSTITUTE FOR LOVE (597 points)
The hauntingly beautiful opening track to the 'Ray Of Light' album, and the third single to be taken from it. It only got as high as #10 but is almost universally loved by critics from what I have read about it.

30. DRESS YOU UP (601 points)
This #5 single was amazingly Madonna's eighth top five hit in 1985 - a record which I'm not sure has been broken. It was the fourth or fifth (depending on whether you include 'Into The Groove') single to be taken from the uber-successful 'Like A Virgin' album and it's one which has gained in popularity over the years I think. Cruelly left off 'The Immaculate Collection' (that really should have been a double album), it was included on her later 'Celebration' greatest hits album.

29. OH FATHER (659 points)
Another of my top 3 favourites gone too soon (in the words of Michael Jackson)... 'Oh Father' is her most hauntingly emotional ballad ever, in my opinion, and why it wasn't released as a single in the U.K. when 'Like A Prayer' was out I will never know. Instead it was released in late 1995 as the second single to promote her 'Something To Remember' ballad collection, when it scraped into the top 20 at #16. It has remained popular over the years though, and a #29 placing with the size of her singles discography is nothing to be sniffed at.

28. 4 MINUTES (673 points)
Madge's most recent chart topper is amazingly nearly a decade old now, and it was the lead single from 'Hard Candy' which did it for her. Featuring chart regulars Justin Timberlake and Timbaland on vocals it was another dance pop track, but with more of a hip hop urban feel than she had previously done before. It's nice to see a wide range of different eras scoring well in this chart.

27. CHERISH (722 points)
One of Madonna's ever popular pure pop tracks from the eighties, 'Cherish' was the third single release from 'Like A Prayer' in 1989 and it got to #3 in the charts. She has only ever performed it on one tour, but it was deemed good enough to feature on both 'The Immaculate Collection' and 'Celebration'.

26. THE POWER OF GOOD-BYE (723 points)
This achingly beautiful ballad from the 'Ray Of Light' album was a #6 hit in 1998 when it was released as the fourth single from it. It's one that never fails to move me and her vocals are spot on.

Great to see Miles Away and Love Profussion placing quite well here, two of her most underrated singles

25. EROTICA (741 points)
A very repsectable score for Madge's most sexual song, released in 1992 as the lead single from the album of the same name. It was her first new studio album in three years and a million miles away from the pure pop on 'Like A Prayer' - her previous effort, instead it was more of the same flavour as 'Justify My Love', the first new single from 'The Immaculate Collection' - released about a year and a half earlier... so not a total shock for her fans. The song has aged very well and slips inside the top 25.

24. TAKE A BOW (743 points)
For reasons I will never understand, this was Maddie's first single since 'Lucky Star' in 1984 to miss the top ten in the U.K. where it stalled at #16. In fact she had had a run of 35 top ten hits until that point... It couldn't be more different in the U.S. though, where it became her only single to spend as long as 7 weeks at #1. The second single from 'Bedtime Stories', Take A Bow is a tender ballad which is up there with the best of hers and is one of the few tracks to feature on 4 of her albums - as it was also included on Something To Remember, GHV2 & Celebration.

23. SECRET (751 points)
And now we take one step back, to the first single release from the 'Bedtime Stories' album, and this one did better - in the U.K. at least, where it peaked at #5. It's not a million miles away from the stuff she was releasing from 'Erotica', but it does have more of an R&B feel to it - which is true of the album in general.

22. SORRY (781 points)
The songs from 'Confessions On A Dancefloor' proved popular on this countdown, and this track is no exception. Released as the second single, it stormed to #1 in the U.K. in early 2006 - which was no surprise at the time as it is insanely catchy and up there with her biggest dance anthems.

21. DON'T TELL ME (826 points)
This is the one where Madonna donned her cowboy boots and went all country on us.. The follow-up single to her song 'Music' (both from the album of the same name), this was a #4 hit in the U.K. and has done remarkably well on this countdown - narrowly missing out on a top twenty placing.

"Ray Of Light", "Confessions" and "Music" eras are overrated.
57. Don't Cry For Me Argentina 56. Dear Jessie 55. Love Profusion 54. Angel
All four singles were # 1s in my chart.

I do like all of those albums. Out of them, 'Ray Of Light' has the best singles but 'Music' is the most consistently good for me. I'd have released 'Gone' or 'I Deserve It' as singles instead of 'Don't Tell Me' - so that shows how much I know compared to the public!

20. DEEPER AND DEEPER (882 points)
When this was released as the second single from 'Erotica' I remember being ecstatic.... Madonna was doing pop again, and making people dance. Easily the most disco inspired track on the album, and since 'Vogue'.. with it even giving a nod towards that track at the end where Madge goes into singing it. I also think it's one of the catchiest songs she's ever done, and its peak position of #6 seems very low for it.

19. LUCKY STAR (894 points)
And now we go back to almost the very beginning, with her second ever hit. Like much of that debut album, 'Lucky Star' was written solely by Madge herself and the fact it is her 19th most popular song ever, despite only reaching #14 in the charts, is proof that she had the magic right from the very start.

18. JUSTIFY MY LOVE (959 points)
This was the song that was released as the first new single from The Immaculate Collection, and it was totally different from anything that came before it.. That may have helped to push it to #2 in the charts - only being kept off the top spot by Vanilla Ice's 'Ice Ice Baby', and it has remained one of her most popular songs ever since then.
