17. HOLIDAY (973 points)
Madonna's first ever hit, and still one of her most popular, it has been a top ten hit three times in the U.K., reaching as high as #2 in 1985 when it was only stopped getting to the top by another hit of hers, 'Into The Groove'. It's just pure pop, insanely catchy and fun, so no wonder it's remained so popular.

16. CRAZY FOR YOU (983 points)
Maddie's first ballad hit... this was originally released in 1985, breaking up the run of singles from 'Like A Virgin' it was taken from the soundtrack to 'Vision Quest' and it became a #2 hit. In fact it's been #2 twice, as a remixed version from 'The Immaculate Collection' was released as a single in 1991 and was bridesmaid once again. It was also included on 'Something To Remember' and 'Celebration'..... This is the last track not to score over 1000 points, so the top 15 are all immensely popular!

"Ray Of Light", "Confessions" and "Music" eras are overrated. Madonna's best 3 albums.

"Ray Of Light", "Confessions" and "Music" eras are overrated. Madonna's best 3 albums. I'd say: 1. Like A Prayer 2. I'm Breathless (sorry but I just love it!) 3. True Blue

Whitneyfan, I loving this countdown. (Hence I'm delaying the Fleetwood Mac Haven Favourited results to later). PS. My top three albums by "Her Madgesty" are: 1st Like A Prayer 2nd Ray Of Light 3rd Madonna (First album) I wonder whether she will continue working with (fellow Lady Gaga haters) The Chainsmokers on new material for her forthcoming album, or will she ditch them in the light of the savaging their debut album has taken: www.metacritic.com/music/memories-do-not-open/the-chainsmokers/user-reviews

15. OPEN YOUR HEART (1087 points)
This was the lowest charting single in the U.K. of all her five singles from 'True Blue'... and it still reached #4, so it in no way could be considered a flop. It seems to be fondly remembered by a lot of people - scoring a massive amount of points.

14. MATERIAL GIRL (1091 points)
We're onto the big guns now, and one of the Queen of Pop's signiature songs, released at a time when she was still setting out on her way to becoming a superstar. It was the second single from 'Like A Virgin', and another #3 smash... equalling the highest position of the title track, and bringing some fun back into chart pop music. (If only there were somebody who could do that today!)

13. MUSIC (1161 points)
We haven't completely finished with the noughties yet, but it's nice to see one of her later singles beating some of her early classics. 'Music' is a catchy, electro-pop, dance infused track which is sure to get any crowd going at any event. It gave her yet another #1 single in 2000 when released as the title track from her new album of the same title... and it was at a time when she was cool again, following the 'Ray Of Light' and 'Beautiful Stranger' successes.

12. LA ISLA BONITA (1186 points)
Madonna's first spanish flavoured song was amazingly only the fifth single to be taken from 'True Blue'. It gave her another #1, making it three from that album alone - If it hadn't been for 'Rock Me Amadeus' by Falco then 'Live To Tell' would have made it four!! It's always been one of my favourites and I'm glad the public have an affection for it too.. hence its great score.

11. EXPRESS YOURSELF (1200 points)
Narrowly missing out on a top ten place is this upbeat, feel-good, self-motivating anthem that was the second single from 'Like A Prayer' and a #5 hit for Madge in 1989. It's a theme that Lady Gaga used/borrowed (some say stole, but I don't think they sound that much alike) for her 2014 hit 'Born This Way'.

And so there is just the top 10 to go... You may well have worked out all the songs that are left, but it's quite a nice nod to the longevity of her career that 7 of her albums are featured!!

10. LIKE A VIRGIN (1258 points)
Probably the song that turned Madonna into a star, this was a massive #3 hit during the Christmas period of 1984 and it remains one of her biggest selling singles ever. It may have 'only' reached #3, but when you consider that the top 2 during that time were two of the biggest songs ever - Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas' and Wham!'s 'Last Christmas' then you can understand why it sold so much. It's arguably her most iconic song too, and totally deserves its place in this top ten.

9. PAPA DON'T PREACH (1269 points)
Never one to shy away from controversial subjects, this one dealt with the issue of teenage pregnancy. Released as the second single from 'True Blue' it became Madonna's second ever U.K. #1 and another which has really stood the test of time among fans and music critics alike. Singer Kelly Osbourne took a cover version of the song to #3 in 2002... but a lot of people would probably rather forget that fact!

8. BORDERLINE (1356 points)
My favourite Madonna track for a large chunk of the time, this sits somewhere in tempo between her ballads and her dance-pop numbers of the early eighties. The highest placed track here from her debut self-titled album, it flopped when originally released in June 1984 as the follow-up to 'Lucky Star', not rising any higher than #56. Then as a masterstroke, somebody decided to re-release it in January 1986 - when the possibility of yet another top 5 hit from 'Like A Virgin' was slim, and to keep us interested while we waited for the follow-up album - where it finally climbed all the way to #2 on the chart.

7. HUNG UP (1441 points)
After 5 in a row from the eighties, we move into the 21st century now with this #1 hit from 2005, and the lead single from 'Confessions On A Dancefloor'. It spent 3 weeks at the top, and a further 7 inside the top ten, which was great for her after the lukewarm response that her previous album 'American Life' had got. It famously sampled Abba's 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)', which was a masterstroke as it gave the song more of a seventies disco feel. It also provided people with the sight of a 47 year old Madge in a skimpy pink leotard - prompting the now frankly boring ageist criticisms she has been receiving ever since!

6. RAY OF LIGHT (1521 points)
Now one of her most popular hits, this was something of a massive re-invention for Madonna when it came out in 1998. The title track of one of her most critically acclaimed albums ever, it gave her another #2 hit when released as a single - with only All Saints' version of 'Under The Bridge' preventing it from topping the charts. It's another electronic club banger, with sound effects that make you feel like you're on acid when you're getting lost in the magic of the track.

"Material Girl" always was my favourite Madonna's song.
Mad'Donna - Wheels On The Bus
Big hit from my chart in 2002, prefer her mix version with classic children's song over original "Ray Of Light".
