I don't know if it's the case or not but I reckon fewer people care about the charts now than they used to in my day.
Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, just that it's a thing of the past.
There are multiple ways to find the music you like and streaming platforms are very good in making music accessible.
29 years ago when Take That and Mr Blobby were battling for Christmas number one, it may have meant a bit more.
30 years ago Whitney Houston was number one at Christmas and a lot of people were saying "hey, that's a Dolly Parton cover" and may have even been comparing the versions, but a normal everyday chart follower probably didn't know Dolly Parton's version, nor did they have any easy way of accessing it to compare. No when Ladbaby does "We built this city on Sausage Rolls" and they tell you it's a cover of Starship, every new generation chart follower who didn't know the original can go and find it.
They may then be told that Starship started their life in the 60s as Jefferson Airplane and go and find "White Rabbit" and "Somebody To Love" too.

Having the same song at number one every year is not a phenomenon new to streaming. Back in the 40s "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby was Christmas number one nearly every year.
Radio stations would play it every year.
The top 50 streamed Christmas number ones is clearly missing Ladbaby, so most people prefer Mariah. That "I Hear You Knocking" and "Mull Of Kintyre" are also missing from the list appears just to be an indication of those songs not standing the test of time. If it's a Christmas-related song, or it's considered a classic, like the Beatles songs or Pink Floyd or the Human League which people listen to all year round, then it's on the list. Even all the Spice Girls ones are there.
Most of the X-Factor winners are there, just Leon Jackson notably missing.

At the time Sinead did better in my chart, #9 compared to #19 of TATU, but I can hardly remember how the Sinead Quinn song goes now, whereas I do remember that TATU song.
It was probably around the time Feeder were #1 in my chart with "Just The Way I'm Feeling", a song I heard on Radio X today.

7 Wet Wet Wet - Goodnight Girl 10 Shakespears Sister - Stay 10 Right Said Fred - Deeply Dippy 3 KWS - Please Don't Go 4 Erasure - Take A Chance On Me 8 Snap - Rhythm Is A Dancer 1 Jimmy Nail - Ain't No Doubt 10 Shamen - Ebeneezer Goode 3 Boyz II Men - End Of The Road 9 Tasmin Archer - Sleeping Satellite 8 Charles & Eddie - Would I Lie To You 8 Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
It seems wrong that they're in order they entered rather than the order in which they reached #1 which would put Jimmy Nail before Snap and Tasmin Archer before Boya II Men. In fact Boyz II Men too so long to get to #1 I'm surprised it didn't enter the chart before the Shamen too.
And yes a nice 10 to Right Said Fred!

Apart from 2 wins against Tunisia, I recall all of England's games against African teams in World Cups since 1986 have finished drawn in normal time, but we also beat Cameroon in extra time.
1986 Morocco 0-0 1990 Cameroon 2-2 after normal time, 3-2 after extra time 1998 Tunisia 2-0 2002 Nigeria 0-0 2010 Algeria 0-0 2018 Tunisia 2-1
Cameroon was the only one we faced in the knockout stage. Morocco in 1986 was the only one to qualify from a group we were in. 3 teams qualified but they were first, we were second.
still we haven't yet lost to an African nation in a World Cup.

If you're only covering the UK chart then "How Much Is That Doggie In The Window" is the only Patti Page song you will encounter. Rather a shame. "Allegheny Moon" was her biggest US hit reaching #2 and reached #2 in my chart too along with a couple of others. Probably best known though for "Old Cape Cod" because Groove Armada sampled it.

I haven't listened to that song but in the area my chart covered David Whitfield was possibly the singer I couldn't stand the most. I declared his song "My Son John" as the worst song I came across during the entirety of my coverage of the last 4 years of the 1950s. Obviously the public at the time agreed with me to some extent as it broken a run of top 10 hits (plus one #12) to peak at #22.
Guy Mitchell managed 2 number ones in my chart, and I did wonder how many more he would have had if I'd started it earlier. And in the 1940-52 book he has even more of them.

bye bye Germany..
Spain vs Morocco is a bit of a "derby" although Spain's main rivals will always be Portugal.

If Germany finish 2nd in the group they will face Morocco, the same team they faced in 1986 when they came 2nd in their group behind Denmark and Morocco won theirs ahead of England.
And then of course they went on to reach the final.
Maybe Spain are attempting to come 2nd now, if Morocco is going to be a preferred opponent to Croatia.

I have no idea if my script would still work if I tried it. It would have meant putting tag:new in Spotify and then either searching for key words or having Christmas as the genre. Many would not be released for the next couple of weeks.
I do know that at some point in 2019 the number of returned results fell drastically. So one might have to put search words in too, Christmas, Xmas, Santa, etc.

If you want to appeal to a wider audience, you need to record in a popular language. So English and Spanish in particular. Bjorn and Benny from Abba decided that they should write their songs in English for that purpose. "It's the language of rock and roll".
If you saw the film "Amadeus" there was a debate on whether the opera that Mozart was to write the music for should have the words in Italian, that being "the language of opera".

Céline Dion has a huge market for albums she has recorded in French.
Gloria Estefan similarly has a huge market for albums she recorded in Spanish. Shakira released about 3 albums in Spanish before she made it in the UK with an English language album. Julio Iglesias was a successful musician long before 1981 recording in Spanish.

Jamaica has made an incredible contribution to contemporary music with its own style, whereas many of the other countries mentioned have just followed the styles of Britain and America.
So I might even say Jamaica for "giving us reggae".
Based on that, my original choice of Ireland would still appear due to celtic music which has been a favourite form of mine, even if many of the artists involved are not actually Irish. But hail the Pogues...

I agree with some of that list but really, the one who destroyed a Steve Winwood classic?
Plus don't forget some classic number ones in my chart by acts from Sweden: - Sonic Surf City - Down On The Beach (Surf Little Girl) - Royal Concept - On Our Way - Judas Bunch - Hey Bartender (ok, you probably don't like that one).
No NM #1s but Baboon Show had a string of hits and you'd probably like them.
