Quite a few I don't know on here - the fact I was out of the country and more used to the American charts doesn't help either. Anyhoo a list of faves I do have... 2 (3) Stevie Wonder - I Just Called (yeah, yeah it's cheesy with the synths but it takes me back to a happy childhood)4 (4) Howard Jones - Like To Get To Know You Well (this guy was on fire in the early 80s)5 (6) Laura Branigan - Self Control (great classic)7 (16) Miami Sound Machine - Doctor Beat (saw them in concert in '88... my sister loved them too)12 (8) Tina Turner - Whats Love Got To Do With It (nice enough)16 (13) Jeffrey Osbourne - On The Wings Of Love (I'm with pcb... corny goodness!)19 (14) Prince - When Doves Cry (funky bassline - big Prince fan in 84)34 (NE) Bucks Fizz - Talking In Your Sleep (prefer The Romantics version which had a crazy driving guitar hook... www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HLZkjeHCM4)

My Spidey senses tell me you're gay purplecarbear... haha!
Check you still buying vinyl in 1992... haha. I think by 1992 I had given up on vinyl.
On a side note, I loved the Shamen but wasn't keen on LSI.

Wow I'm surprised by how much I love on this list!
1 (1) Snap - Rhythm Is A Dancer (great tune!) 2 (4) Luther & Janet - The Best Things In Life Are Free (another good one if a bit over-played) 4 (9) Undercover - Baker Street (loved loved loved this group and bought their album too) 6 (6) Felix - Don't You Want Me (stompin dance track) 8 (14) KWS - Rock You Baby (another summer dance anthem) 9 (23) Annie Lennox - Walking On Broken Glass (still love this - songwriting masterclass) 12 (25) Betty Boo - Let Me Take You There (this cd single got major play-age... she looked hot on the cover and she's the same ethnic mix as me too) 19 (28) Bobby Brown - Humpin' Around (I just started getting into new jack swing around this time - cracking tune) 20 (10) Was (Not Was) - Shake Your Head (got this on cd single - fab)

Nothing Is Forever by Ultracynic? Fantastic record - never understood why it wasn't a huge hit Yep, that's the one. Had it on 12". I'd also class The Prodigy as early rave. Their first album was fantastic!

I'm gonna grossly generalise here, but the mid 90s (93-96) musically for me always seemed dire. A lot of eurocheese about and reggae type affairs. However I shall pick on some faves (please note I may not necessarily like the artist but the songs were okay)...
6 Without You – Mariah Carey 8 Crazy For You – Let Loose (great tune) 11 The Sign – Ace Of Base 17 All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey (still love this) 18 Everything Changes – Take That 30 Love Me For A Reason - Boyzone 32 Breathe Again – Toni Braxton 35 Sweetness – Michelle Gayle 40 Sweets For My Sweet – CJ Lewis (wow this was a big fave lol)
Oh God I remember buying Come On You Reds (the team that every defender dreads) for my brother... hahaha!

1 Never Gonna Give You Up – Rick Astley 3 I Just Can’t Stop Loving You – Michael Jackson & Siedah Garrett 10 Somewhere Out There – Linda Ronstadt & James Ingram 11 Whenever You’re Ready – Five Star 14 Didn’t We Almost Have It All – Whitney Houston 15 La Bamba – Los Lobos 20 Who’s That Girl - Madonna 27 Always – Atlantic Starr 34 Casanova - Levert 40 Under The Boardwalk – Bruce Willis
This would be my top 10 from that week.

I ignored this thread as I never heard of Heywoode (though she looks the kinda artist I'd like). Anyway I decided to find her on You Tube and only now do I know the song! What a track! I shall hunt this down and have it on loop all week! Here's the vid by the way... www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFWkcwARdNk

Oh. I don't want to comment on the thread content, but I'm sad Hotpotato has gone. Hot Potato is a very good online friend of mine - such a shame he left. I shall tell him you asked after him Smurfie. I bought GLAD on cassette single. Don't Worry was better but GLAD was okay for what it was. And I also agree with Potato on More Than Words Can Say being the highlight of Mel&Kim's short lived career.

I remember as a 12 yr old I used to watch the "International Rescue" video over and over for those hot blonde guys in nappies!

Great choice. I'm actually a big fan of anything by The Jets, but yes that's one fine 80s ballad. You might like "Make It Real" by them as well - equally as good but the video not so.

That video was meant for another thread. Lets hope I didn't post Sinitta in my Amy Studt thread! That would've done nothing for your credibility. And another for Sinitta - talk about a tight budget. * Just to comment on Whitney's How Will I Know... great choice! The opening intro to that song ALWAYS gets me! Okay now we have a personal fave of mine, The Jets "Curiousity". They really captured that colourful mid-80s scene! www.youtube.com/watch?v=CL4I4VJRC_o

I love Break My Stride! The dancing at the beginning is hilarious! I also always thought the guy singing it was black and was shocked to see a white guy with a shaggy perm and tache. Ummm you linked an Amy Studt video? Was that meant to be?

This came on the radio the other week just as I was driving past my old childhood house. I was in an instant time machine. I always thought a black guy sang this and was shocked when I saw the video... youtube.com/watch?v=xQl50dnAg44

1990 as a whole was pretty okay music-wise. I remember buying Candy Flip and The Inspiral Carpets on vinyl.
Black Box's "I Don't Know Anybody Else" was their crowning glory! They did a remix in the late 90s for the clubs and it was rockin!

ha five star didnt they end up bankrupt Well according to them - no. And considering they moved to a huge mansion in LA, they weren't broke. They said the only financial trouble they had at the time was building a state-of-the-art recording studio in their house - which possibly lost them a lot (but not all) of their money. but money schmoney... I love them regardless! They're doing solo projects now too... www.myspace.com/fivestargroup
