Very good year so I'll narrow it down to my Top 5! 1. Nik Kershaw : "Human Racing" (my ultimate Nik track - initially sounds a bit too dark and melancholic but really it's a delicious gem)2. Culture Club : "The War Song" (I was a big fan of Culture Club and once again this was my fave song by them as a kid at the tender age of 8. I used to sing it on the way to school to my Mum?!?! She must've thought I was a loon )3. Rockwell : "Somebody's Watching Me" (funky track - what a classic)4. Giorgio Moroder & Philip Oakey : "Together In Electric Dreams" (awww you gotta love this really, captures the era so well)5. Tina Turner : "Private Dancer" (she had some solid hits - what a comeback!)

I was just reminiscing with my brother and sisters about Lidsville - what a show! I remember watching it as a toddler. The opening sequence was a bit far out but the show was fun enough. The Red Indian hat was my fave.

I'd love to have more time to research the ones that aren't instantly familiar but hey ho.
Here are my likes...
2 3 Human League (Keep Feeling) Fascination (probably the only song of theirs I truly like) 3 8 Heaven 17 Temptation (agreed on the '93 remix) 11 4 Michael Jackson Beat It (great at the time - the hype was unbelievable) 13 9 David Bowie Let's Dance (the video brings back memories of childhood but the song was a bit lacklustre) 16 10 Culture Club Church Of The Poison Mind (unusual sound for them but loved it)

I know Bananarama but I don't KNOW them enough to rate every single release. So if you'll allow me to just list my faves (the 8/10s and above) ps: Not a fan of their early work or their most recent. My Nana time was Wow (borrowed my sister's copy) and Pop Life. Used to spend hours in my room playing with my toys with Wow in the background... and yes I was 11/12 haha. 10/10 I Heard A Rumour 10/10 Love In The First Degree 8/10 I Can't Help It 10/10 I Want You Back (gorgeous track - feelgood 80s)8/10 Love Truth And Honesty 9/10 Preacher Man (decent comeback)9/10 Long Train Running (my first and last Bananarama purchase)

I keep seeing Tracey Ullman pop up everywhere in this section - I never knew she was so popular. Was it just a UK thing? I was abroad y'see and only ever knew her as an actress.

My top picks...
2 Black Lace Agadoo 4 Tina Turner What's Love Got To Do With It 6 Laura Branigan Self Control 7 Stevie Wonder I Just Called To Say I Love You 8 Howard Jones Like To Get To Know You Well 10 Prince When Doves Cry 18 Miami Sound Machine Dr Beat 26 Cyndi Lauper Time After Time 35 Nik Kershaw I Won't Let The Sun Go Down On Me 36 Alison Moyet Love Resurrection
My faves are all the pop hits - I was after all just a young 'un.
Yes, yes Agadoo is in there... Why? Because every house party we had (and we had lots) that was always played on the record player... good times.
Howard Jones is probably my fave out of the lot, with Nik Kershaw a close second.
I also remember LOVING Prince as an 8 yr old and clearly remember listening to him on my walkman during the summer hols of '84. Musically I was very grown up for my age... well I was gay... haha.

Never cared for M People - their songs all sounded the same. And Heather's nasally vocals were too much for my young ears.
Nice to see Eddie Reader get mentioned - Patience of Angels is timeless!

Great stuff - yeah I'm the same age as you Smurfie. I started young too - I think it also has a lot to do with older siblings. Even as a young 7 yr old I was asking for Culture Club and Howard Jones albums Having older brothers and sisters around definitely exposed me to more pop culture.

Agreed on Lovestation's remix of Teardrops - there was one particular mix that went down a treat in clubs at the time (2000).
I wondered if "Turn It Into Love" was a cover of Kylie - never heard it at the time I don't think.
Ummm and we'll agree to disagree on Rick's 2nd album... haha. The first 5 tracks on that are perfection... the 2nd half not so, but I'm willing to overlook them as a whole.
And can I just ask the ages for Jannie and Smurfie - just so I can get an idea of how old we all were at the time of these charts... it's not too rude a question is it? haha I know how old PurpleCarebear is.

I'm gonna be strict and choose ones I only love or loved (obviously ). Quite a good chart - remember it all too well. 6 (4) I Quit - Bros (I wasn't a huge Bros fan but this was my fave from them)8 (20) Big Fun (Radio Fun) - Inner City (these guys really revolutionised dance in it's heyday)11 (10) Anything For You - Gloria Estefan (gorgeous - I love a good Gloria ballad)16 (new) She Wants To Dance With Me - Rick Astley (his 2nd album was the greatest! This one brings back happy memories of high school!)23 (11) My Love - Julio Iglesias & Stevie Wonder (corny but I liked it at the time)
24 (new) One Moment In Time - Whitney Houston (this woman was pure gold in the 80s)26 (18) The Loco-Motion - Kylie Minogue (damn this was hot at the time... haha. Got this on 7")34 (39) World Without You - Belinda Carlisle (her finest hour - simply beautiful)
35 (24) I Need You - BVSMP (this was pretty funky at the time)39 (30) Sweet Child O'Mine - Guns N' Roses (Even I jumped on the GnR bandwagon at the time - lol )

I remember this kicking round the family home in the 80s... haha. 1. Duran Duran : "The Reflex" (I agree - their best "hit")2. Nik Kershaw : "I Won't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" (Love Nik Kershaw... perfect pop songs with a twist)3. Sister Sledge : "Thinking of You" (Loved the 1992/4 remix so yeah like this)7. Blancmange : "Don't Tell Me" (Not bad)8. Phil Collins : "Against All Odds" (Need to be in the mood for this but generally a great ballad)14. Bob Marley & The Wailers : "One Love" (Great song - why do you hate it? )2. Cyndi Lauper : "Time after Time" (Timeless classic really - gets better with age I feel)3. Alison Moyet : "Love Resurrection" (Love it - what a chorus)7. Tina Turner : "What's Love Got to Do with It" (Her 80s revival was pure class... my grandad, mum and sister all loved her)
