Dutch beating NZ is a bit of a shock I guess? Not sure about that. It might be Holland's debut but European qualification was previously very difficult, while New Zealand pretty much have a bye to the finals and have never done anything once they've got there. It was only a few years ago that Holland reached the semis of the European Championship.

Norway threatening a cricket score against Thailand. Thailand qualified by finishing 5th out of 8 at last year's Asian Cup...

Group B: An easy win for the 1995 champions, who could even afford to miss a penalty.

Germany 2-0 up against the Ivory Coast after 16 minutes. Could easily be 7-0.

To be fair to the Ivory Coast, they've put up more of a fight than Brazil's men did last year.

A walk in the park for the germans, they could have taken their sunbeds

Group B: A dominant victory for Germany from the very start, reaching double figures and they could've had 20.

Jacqui Oatley's style of presentation is truly awful. She seems to think she's on CBeebies or something.

Group D: In easily the best game of the tournament so far, Nigeria twice came from behind to earn a point against Sweden, having trailed 2-0 and 3-2.

Yeah it was a great game, really exciting when Nigeria got going, meant we all didn't get any points in the predicta though USA and Japan won as well as expected and Cameroon beat Ecuador 6-0!! Personally the Norwegian ladies did it for me, but what's with the arm tattoos? Copying their male counterparts again

Group F: A disappointing but unsurprising start for England as they suffer a narrow defeat to group favourites France. England posed little threat but cancelled out France for the most part. The only goal came after a mistake at the back. Despite the loss, one win should be enough for England to make the last 16, though two wins will ensure second place and an easier tie.

Not too disappointed with that result. Expected a narrow win for France and I would rather England finished 2nd in the group as it would mean they go into the opposite half of the draw as Germany and the USA (assuming they win their groups).
England's likely route to the final if they win the group: Spain Germany USA
England's likely route to the final if they finish 2nd: Norway Canada Brazil

It's whether they ca actually create anything to win a game though, they couldn't tonight and I'm assuming two 0-0s are not enough to get through?

Watched the game tonight, though not all of it, reasonably ok from England, just the passing that was concerning. Nice to see Fran come on even if she had little impact. Hopefully she'll be back to 100% for the next game after her illness and against weaker opposition may even get a goal.
I've seen Jacqui Oatley on Late Kickoff and on the women's football show as well as tonight and think she's ok. Certainly prefer her as a reporter/presenter than commentator.

Group E: Group F: Good news for England as Colombia and Mexico share the points (Colombia equalising with a superb late strike), signifcantly increasing their chances of finishing 2nd in the group. Honours even in the battle of two World Cup debutants in Group E, but Costa Rica will probably be happier with the draw than Spain.

Have to say I really don't like the pitches, I know it's the same for everyone, blah, blah, blah, but obviously it will favour those teams who has the most players that are used to playing on it. Have you seen the way the ball bounces, it kind of stops, rather than the momentum carrying it forward, it must be so difficult to anticipate if you aren't used to it.
