Quarter-finals: A fantastic effort from England sees them knock out the hosts and reach the semi-finals for the first time. They'll face defending champions Japan, who edged past Australia with a late goal.

Great result after the inauspicious start against France. Always tough to beat the host nation.
We stayed up to watch it and just KNEW Canada were going to equalise!
On current ranking a quarter final was their level so anything further is a bonus.
I suppose Japan are considered favourites but the English must definitely be in with a good chance. If only they could cut out the errors.
As Mrh previously asserted it probably worked far better for the girls to have been runners-up instead of winners of their group.

I'm more gutted than I would be for the men's team. It's the biggest kick in the stomach as a football supporter since Blackburn let Wolves score in 2011 to relegate us.

Gutting in view of the number of chances they had - but that seems to be a long term problem with many English teams.

England finish off third well done to them for getting that far, beating Germany (1-0) in the last half of extra time.
Let's hope the Men's England matches will up their game now.
