The draw is so lopsided in terms of the quality in each half and now one of the best two teams in the bottom half is gone. Huge chance for England to reach the final if they can get past Norway...

Just seen the highlights of Brazil v Australia on Youtube, and it seems as though the teams did not switch ends at half time.
Either that, or there were no highlights in the first half.

England have been awful for an hour against Norway but have managed to claw back an equaliser. 1-1.

The hosts see off the Swiss to book a place in the quarter-finals. They will meet England, who overcame a slow start to come from behind to beat Norway. The result means England have reached the quarter-finals of every World Cup they've qualified for. It is England's first ever win in a knockout match at the Women's World Cup and the first knockout win by a men's or women's senior side at a major tournament since 2009.

Great result for the English girls but it was a strain on the nerves.
Not much difference between them and Canada in the world rankings. On paper we should have a good chance but playing against the home nation is always difficult.

Think the Colombian GK red card was a little harsh as there was a covering defender, plus, I think the contact was on the line, and so outside the box and a free kick not a penalty. Might have made it more interesting if it had been 11-11. England got through, I just hope they sort the tactics to take on the Canadians, I watched the 1st half an hour and we were poor.

Good win for England, found Rachel Yankey's comments interesting about players not being allowed to express themselves. There was a bit of a dig at Hope Powell in there too. Will also be interesting to see whether Kirby starts the next game. She was great against Mexico but has largely been anonymous/ineffective in the other games.
Canada the hosts but not a bad draw, didn't realise the England games were getting later as they progressed, will mean I'll have to record it and watch first thing Sunday morning - although at least it's on a weekend and before Wimbledon starts. If England get further and have any other games at that time then i'm not sure i'll watch them at all. I had hoped they'd be on around 9/10pm so meaning I can watch live and without much of a clash.

France battering Germany in the first half but somehow, it's still 0-0. Hope England start the way France have against Canada tomorrow.

Quarter-finals: | | | Germany win 5-4 on pens |
France dominated the first half but couldn't score. Germany equalised with a dodgy penalty. France then missed an absolute sitter to win it with five minutes of extra time left. As you'd expect, Germany scored all five penalties in the shoot-out.
