And they may not. Don't know why they didn't hire him earlier.

Saturday 28 - Sunday 29 AprilPremier League: Man United will seal their Champions League place on Saturday if Chelsea fail to win at Swansea, or on Sunday if they beat Arsenal. Liverpool will have theirs if they win vs Stoke and Chelsea lose. Burnley will be in the Europa League (qualifying rounds, at least) if they win and Leicester don't, or if they draw, Leicester lose and Everton fail to win. West Brom will be relegated unless they win and Swansea don't. Stoke will go down if they lose, Swansea win, and Crystal Palace, West Ham and Huddersfield all avoid defeat. Championship: Cardiff will be promoted if they win and Fulham lose - Fulham would then be in the play-offs. Aston Villa will be in the play-offs unless they better Cardiff's result. Middlesbrough will be in the play-offs if they beat Millwall; if this happens, Derby will also be there if they win and Brentford don't. Burton will go down if they lose against Bolton; if this happens, Barnsley will also be down if they fail to win. League One: Wigan will be champions if they win and Blackburn lose. MK Dons will be down unless they win and Rochdale and Oldham both lose. Northampton will be down if they lose and either Rochdale or Oldham win, or if they draw, Rochdale and Oldham both win, and Wimbledon avoid defeat. League Two: Accrington will be champions unless they lose and Luton win. Wycombe will be promoted if they win, Exeter lose, and Notts County don't win - Exeter and Notts County would then be in the play-offs. Lincoln will join them unless they lose and Mansfield win, while Coventry will seal their place if they better Mansfield's result. Barnet will be relegated unless they win at fellow strugglers Morecambe. More leagues later... Man United wrapped up their Champions League place with an undeserved win over Arsenal yesterday. Liverpool's isn't safe yet, and Burnley may yet be beaten to a Europa League spot by Everton. The great escape is still on for West Brom and Stoke as the relegation battle tightened up. Cardiff remain a point clear of Fulham as the promotion battle goes to the final day. Aston Villa and Middlesbrough will be in the play-offs (probably against each other), but Derby aren't yet assured of their place. Barnsley lifted themselves out of the relegation zone, while Burton also won - five teams remain in danger of relegation on the final day. Wigan only drew, but are now two points clear as Blackburn lost. MK Dons have been relegated. Northampton aren't mathematically down, but need an 8-goal win on the final day. Accrington have won League Two, and Wycombe have sealed the third automatic promotion spot, so Exeter and Notts County settle for play-off places. Mansfield's comeback win means that Lincoln haven't yet secured their place in the play-offs. Barnet won at Morecambe to keep their survival hopes alive.

National League (final day - 12:30 kick-off) Three teams out of six will complete the play-off places: - Ebbsfleet (73 pts, +14) will be there if they avoid defeat at Torquay
- Fylde (72, +26) probably only need a draw at Wrexham
- Boreham Wood (72, +15) will make it if they beat bottom club Guiseley, or if they draw and Bromley and Dover both fail to win. Or if they lose, neither Bromley nor Dover win, and Wrexham do not both win and overturn a goal difference gap of 5.
- Bromley (70, +20) will be there if they win and one of: Ebbsfleet lose, Fylde lose, Boreham Wood don't win
- Dover (70, +17) need to win and hope two of the above teams slip up
- Wrexham (69, +10) need to win and hope that neither Bromley nor Dover win, and Boreham Wood lose, *and* that the 5-goal gap is overturned
Relegation: Guiseley, Chester and Torquay are down. Woking will go down unless they win and Barrow don't.
Boreham Wood, Ebbsfleet and Fylde held on to their play-off places, with draws enough for the latter two. Woking were relegated as they could only draw. Celtic are champions for the seventh year in a row after thrashing Rangers. Dunfermline won to confirm their play-off place. Ayr overtook Raith on the final day for promotion back to the Championship. Meanwhile, Queen's Park's surprise win saw them given a lifeline and relegated Albion. A draw was enough for promotion for Montrose, meaning that Peterhead will join Stirling and Stenhousemuir in the play-offs

Midweek...
Tuesday 1 May
League One: Scunthorpe will be in the play-offs if they beat 7th-placed Plymouth.
Thursday 3 May
Europa League: If Arsenal get knocked out by Atletico Madrid, then they'll have another season of Europa League football to look forward to next season. Winning the competition will mean they'll be in the Champions League next season.

So Mansfield can make the playoffs, if they win, and Lincoln and/or Coventry lose, goal difference and goals scored could come into the equation as well, but we have to win first! And Lincoln and Coventry have Yeovil and Morecambe at home, so not losing shouldn't be difficult!

Yep, Yeovil and Coventry's games are winnable on paper, but Morecambe also need to get something as they're still in relegation danger.

Coventry and Morecambe can play out a draw, and one will make the playoffs and the other will stay up...

A draw was enough for promotion for Montrose, meaning that Peterhead will join Stirling and Stenhousemuir in the play-offs Sorry frag, Woking lost to a stoppage-time goal (2-1 home to Dover). Will mention the National League later in the week when i'm in a better mood, want to get the Championship relegation battle off my chest for now...
I was hoping Reading would already be safe by now, especially as I always thought there was a good chance that the final game at Cardiff would be televised. I was hoping to be able to enjoy watching that game with nothing riding on it, silly me. I'm fearing the worst tbh for 3 reasons.
1) We've got the toughest game of any of the 5 teams 2) The year ends in an 8 - in my lifetime we've always got relegated, and i'd say this team has looked more like going down than both the 2008 and 1998 teams (which is probably saying something for the latter). 3) We deserve to go down. Listening to the home games except Ipswich thrashing (+ the 2nd half of the last away game - was actually considering going to Ipswich game before deciding late on not to bother, thank goodness for that!) and seeing the highlights we've been lucky to pick up all the points we have under Clement. QPR win, fair result would have been draw, Preston actually deserved to beat us rather than lose 1-0 hitting the woodwork twice, and Sunderland should have beaten us, Kermorgant thought they could have been ahead at HT and yet we were winning! I wouldn't go that far but they definitely shouldn't have been behind and they won the 2nd half and were denied what looked a certain goal by a last ditch interception. That's 6 undeserved points without which we'd be down already.
On the positive side, all the teams below us have got tough games except Bolton (who according to the BBC Radio Berkshire team can't catch us with their goal difference anyway), although Birmingham would only need a point to overtake us. We still need 3 results in the other games to go against us to go down which does seem a lot.

Knaresborough finished the season with 100 points, apparently the first team to do that in that league!

Looking at Whitehawk's record, they got 30 points in the second half of the season. If they had managed that in the first half (rather than their pathetic four points), they would have been comfortably in mid-table. Even if they had only managed 15 points before Christmas, they would have stayed up fairly comfortably. Let's hope they can bounce straight back up.

Scunthorpe are in the playoffs and will be joined by Charlton unless Plymouth can overturn a 6 goal deficit winning at Gillingham with Charlton losing at Rochdale.

What Peterborough missed the playoffs, despite having the GOD that is Steve Evans take over when they were just 3 points outside of them, but but but he's managed Leeds and done at least 72 promotions before, what happened?

The 2 late goals we scored at home against Peterborough that got us a 2-2 draw are starting to look quite important. We've dropped several points in the last minute too, especially against Blackpool, but that one we gained in it was against someone who may have been in the playoffs in our place, and we may end up getting there on goal difference.
The situation at the bottom of league one is like this:
- For Northampton to survive they must beat Oldham by 9 goals and hope Charlton win at Rochdale. Or they can win by something in the region of 27 goals if Rochdale draw.
So in reality Northampton are down but they could drag Oldham with them if Rochdale better Oldham's result.
Northampton and Oldham are both teams we did the double over, Rochdale will also be if we beat them on Saturday and perhaps surprisingly we also did the double over Rotherham.
We would have needed 22 more points to be in the top 2 and I don't think we were ever going to do that so in reality the playoffs are as good as we could have hoped. Now we just need to go and win them. (Oh, and not do something stupid to not get there, but as Gillingham did the double over us perhaps they can now help us out by showing the same kind of performance against Plymouth, or at least not losing by a silly score to them).

Thanks, Neil, now I don't need to post that Will be back tomorrow with a look ahead to the weekend - the English Football League reaches its final weekend, it's Gameweek 37 in the Premier League, and there are some Scottish League play-off second legs.

Any plans for the bank holiday weekend? These teams are chasing glory (or trying to avoid despair)... Saturday 5 - Sunday 6 MayPremier League: Liverpool will qualify for the Champions League if they win at Chelsea on Sunday. If Spurs also win (at WBA, Sat), they will also qualify for the Champions League, meaning Chelsea will be in the Europa League. Burnley's Europa League spot will be confirmed unless they lose and Everton win. West Brom will be relegated: at 2:30pm on Saturday if Stoke win, or at 5pm unless they win and Swansea lose, or at 7:30pm if Southampton win. Stoke will be relegated if they lose, or if they draw and either Southampton win, or Swansea avoid defeat. Even if they win, Stoke will go down if Southampton, Swansea, Huddersfield and West Ham all win. Championship (final day, Sunday 12:30pm): Wolves are up, Sunderland are down, and Aston Villa and Middlesbrough will be in the play-offs. Ten teams with something to play for: Promotion: Cardiff (v Reading) will go up if they win, Fulham (@ Birmingham) lose, or both draw. Fulham are up otherwise. Play-offs: Derby (v Barnsley) will take the last play-off spot if they avoid defeat (unless they draw and Preston win by 10). If they lose, then Preston (v Burton) can leapfrog them with a win. If Preston don't win, then Millwall (v Aston Villa) can sneak in, but they need to win and overcome a 10-goal deficit. Relegation: Bolton (v Nottm Forest) are down if they lose, or if they draw (unless Barnsley lose by 16 and Burton also lose). If they win, they're still down unless two of: Barnsley don't win, Burton don't win, Birmingham lose (and the combined goal difference is at least 4) Burton will be down if they lose, or if they draw and either Barnsley avoid defeat or Bolton win, or if they win, but Barnsley also win and Reading and Birmingham both avoid defeat. Barnsley go down if their result is worse than Burton's, or if they don't win and Bolton do. Birmingham will be safe with a draw, but will go down if they lose and two of: Barnsley win, Burton win, Bolton win (and 4-goal swing). There could be a relegation play-off if, for example, Bolton win 1-0 and Birmingham lose 5-2. Reading are also safe with a draw, but will be down if they lose, and three of: Birmingham avoid defeat, Barnsley win, Burton win, Bolton win (and 14-goal swing). League One (final day, Saturday 5:30pm): Just five teams with something to play for: Play-offs: Charlton will claim the final spot unless they lose, Plymouth win, and there's a 6-goal swing. There'll be a play-off for the play-offs if, for example, Plymouth win 3-0 and Charlton lose 4-1. Relegation: Northampton need a miracle: they're down unless they win, Rochdale lose, and Oldham lose with an 18-goal swing. Rochdale will be down unless they better Oldham's result - Oldham will fall to League Two otherwise. More later, my train just reached Paddington

I'm at Mansfield to see if our "new" manager can actually win a home game, while hoping 1 or 2 other teams lose. Chance of it actually happening, 10%? But if it does, happiness levels 200%!

At least you (probably!) won't need your abacus, unlike some other teams... Saturday 5 May (continued)League Two: final day (3pm) Accrington, Luton and Wycombe have the promotion places sewn up, Exeter and Notts County will be in the play-offs, and Chesterfield are down. Again, five other teams don't know which division they'll play in next season: Play-offs: Coventry (74 pts, +17, 64 goals scored; v Morecambe) and Lincoln (74 pts, +16, 63 GS; v Yeovil) are in control, and either side will seal play-off places if they avoid defeat at home to bottom-five teams. If either of them lose, Mansfield (71 pts, +15, 66 GS, v Crawley) will steal a place if they win - unless there's a goal-fest at the Ricoh (e.g. Mansfield 1-0, Coventry 3-4 would lead to a pre-play-off play-off). Relegation: Barnet will be down unless they win and Morecambe lose. Since Barnet are at home to bottom club Chesterfield, I should note that if Barnet win by 7 goals, a draw won't be enough for Morecambe... SPL: Aberdeen will qualify for the Europa League if they win and Rangers lose. Scottish Championship: Dumbarton (2-1 up) will be relegated if they lose their play-off semi final vs Arbroath Scottish League One: Queen's Park (1-1) will be relegated if they lose their play-off semi final vs Stenhousemuir
