The song has to be written by Britsh people. The song cannot have had any previous exposure in any of the eurovision countries. I think that's pretty much it.
Daz, a 'real' band as you call it would do even worse. This is about appealing to the majority of the people that watch eurovision. Any indie-type music that has been entered previously, apart from a few German bands who quite literally took the p*ss out of the entire competition in the 90's, have failed abysmally. These so called 'real' bands are quite happy to slag off Eurovision, but are too scared to enter one of their own songs because they know it will flop.
What you need to win is a genuinely good pop song, with vocals that are easy to understand, and are relevant to all the countries involved. Love Shine a Light was a great example of a perfect eurovison song. The reason Javine flopped last year is because no-one had a clue what she was actually singing, her pronunciation was appauling. And of course, her dress fell off, which was quite funny.

If it wasn't for the political voting, we'd have a great chance this year You, sir, are either mad, or stupid.

I don't like them, but I don't dislike them either. I don't see anything 'new and exciting' about them, at all.

Has she been droppped then? I quite liked her stuff. Well, I danced along to it in clubs, I've never bought anything by her. So not all that really.

I have to say, the sales this year, both CD's and DVD's, have been a bit pants. Not many bargains to pick up at all. I did buy a pair of nice trousers from next today though, reduced from £34.99 to £4

I bought Kylie's Body Language for £1.99, and Madonna's Music for £2.99 I thought that was quite a good deal

Hung Up was always going to be number 1 - Madonna plus ABBA on the same record - what could possibly contend with it!

Do we vote again then after the songs are eliminated? Or are you letting us know day-by-day? I'm a bit confused as to how this all works....
Could be very interesting actually, since a lot of the songs are quite similar, the votes for them could be split.

Regardless of who sung it, "You Raise Me Up" deserved to win record of the year, it's a lovely song.
