119 T'pau - Heart And Soul
Now theyre was 2 versions of this song, I only realy liked the orginial but I was glad it was a big hit anyway after so many attempts but I wasn't a big fan of their later stuff at all.
118 Bible - Graceland
Now I maybe wrong but this is the first song on the list not to make the top 75. Again it was re-issued who knowds how many times, Its a beautiful record but it just couldn't sell enough singles in one week to mkae the top 40 from which it would have been a top 10. Which is what happened with a song later in my list that struggled to be a hit after multiple re-issues but was eventually huge.
117 Asia - Heat of the Moment
Great 80s rock at it's best no more to say. Big loud & epic.
116 The Smiths - Bigmouth Strikes Again
Discovered this song thru my wife again in the early nineties just love it, 1 more Smiths track to come.
115 The Cure - In Between Days
Probably the 1st alternative band I liked, this was always my favourite as it was so catchy ahem. Ok now I do like a lot of their darker stuff just as much hehe
114 The Sundays - Can't Be Sure
'Reading, Writing And Arthimetic' one of the best indie albums of all time, combining Smiths guitars with sweet Cocteau twins style vocals. There is only non-single in this top 200 and it's by this band, where will it be?
113 The The - Uncertain Smile
When I was a student one of my flat mates was totally into this band, I thought they were a bit weird but they grew on me and this is by far their best single.
112 Stan Ridgway - Camouflage
Novelty hit time, Ok this is a funny song but also very serious at the same time, it's pure class hehehe
111 Rush - The Spirit Of Radio
One of those songs you always found on 'Pure Soft Precious Metall Ballads Vol iV etc etc' and it's another epic rock track.
110 Haircut 100 - Love Plus One
No introduction needed here everyone knows this, no 80s disco is complete without this song.

109 Roxy Music - Avalon
Great voice typical 80s atmospheric pop gorgeous
108 Wax - Bridge To Your Heart
One hit wonders with a great summer tune, I was on holiday in Morecambe when this was out and you heard it everywhere, I think they were ex-members of 10cc but I might be wrong.
107 Wang Chung - Dance Hall Days
More Wang Chung this the UK hit tho and this had some fantastic 12" versions great stuff
106 John Parr - St Elmo's Fire
Big movie theme stormer, great singalong rock hehe
105 It Bites - Calling All The Heroes
More singalong rock one of the catchiest songs of 1986
104 Berlin - Take my breath Away
A whisker away from the top 100, I really thought this would be higher but overplay leaves it short, great song and great video, me wanted a girlfriend with her hair hehe
103 Police - Wrapped Around Your Finger.
Another great Police ballad and at this moment my fave Police track but if I did this list next year, it couldve been 3 totally different songs.
102 OMD - Forever Live And Die
Same applies to OMD my current fave but it could have been a few :)
101 Michael Jackson - Billy Jean
We have seen very few megastars so far and many of you may have been wandering if there was gonna be any???? Well here's MJ just short of the 100. Who else is to come??

Wheeeee its top 100 time 100 Mike & The Mechanics-Silent RunningOMG another film song lol yep great soft rock epic from Mr Rutherford & Paul Carrack, much better than 'The Living Snorez' 99 Marillion - Kayleigh Bored yet another rock ballad lol pure classand a fellow Scot 2 98 Guns and Roses - Welcome to the JungleOk time to wake you all up. Best song on 'Appetite for Destruction' and one of the tracks that has aged very well. 97 Cars - DriveOoops back to sleep, one of the best driving (sic) at 2am records ever and one for the ladies hehe 96 Big Audio Dynamite - E=MC2Ok The Clash were great but this single beats any `1 track they have done, controversial I know but this song is so good. 95 Altered Images - I Could Be HappyMe p*ssed of as I type this I remember a newspapaer was giving away the DVD of 'Gregory's Girl' anD I forgot to get it. Forget Dee Hepburn, Clare Grogan was Gregory's Girl and I wished she was mine 2. My first onscreen crush hehe and it had to follow that i'd support her band 2. 'Happy Birthday' was 2 squeaky but this song was brilliant 94 The Bangles - Manic Monday Another 80s poster girl, Susannah Hoffs anyway great Prince composed track and perfect 80s pop. One more 2 come from them. 93 U2 - With Or Without YouWot!!! only 93!!! Shouts everyone!! Yes I know but they do have more to come and maybe this should be higher, sorry guys. 92 Pat Benatar - Love Is A BattlefieldI promised more Benatar and this was her biggest and most well known song, I'm not obvious at all hehe 91 New Order - True FaithAfter becoming more culty thru the mid 80s, suddenly New Order had a pop hit on their hands, with a clever memorable video with lots of slapping and bouncing they were back in the mainstream. 90 Lloyd cole - Perfect SkinPerfect pop.perfect song love just about everything Lloyd Cole has done

Good to see The Bible get a mention. The other song of theirs I remember was Honey Be Good-that shoul;d've been a massive hit.

89 John Mellencamp - Jack And Diane
Great country rock I got into him the late 80s didn't realise that was one of his songs at the time.
88 Queen & David Bowie - Under Pressure
There had to been some Queen & David Bowie in this list so why not have them both together. 'Let's Dance' and 'Radio Ga Ga' just narrowly missed the list.
87 Icehouse -Hey Little Girl
Charted them earlier here's their big UK hit, very similiar in style to Roxy Music, great single.
86 1927 - That's When I Think Of You
More Australians, this band didnt manage to break the top 40 in UK although their album sold well, this single narrowly missed the top 40.
85 XTC - Senses Working Overtime
One of my fave 80s bands but I only managed to fit one song in the list and that's the above, their biggest and most well known song again.
84 Depeche Mode - See You
Love Early Depeche Mode expect more to come.
83 Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time
Gorgeous ballad from the pop diva that I actually preffered to Madonna, shame she couldn't keep up with her in the end.
82 Del Amitri - Kiss This Thing Goodbye
Great single that shoulda been a huge hit but missed the top 40 but I'm sure it sold a lot of albums for them.
81 Prefab Sprout - Cars & Girls
Another best track on album that didn't make the top 40, it was the followup 'King Of Rocknroll' that got them back into the charts but this song is much better.
80 Duran Duran - Rio
WE all know this so no real comments required hehe
