After all these returning 80s stars apperaing in my current chart, I thought let's make a complete chart of the 80s. Ok this won't be perfect as its only based on 80s tracks I have on my PC, many have been forgotten but they couldnt have been that good if I havent got them can they hehe Anyway as youd expect its gonna have a rock/pop flavour with very little dance/metal/soul but thats me so there. Many great songs have missed the cutoff I have around 1500 80s mp3s lol but you got to be cruel to be kind Anyway I'll post the 200-150 tomorrow and if I'm on the wrong board, moves me ass Andy ta

OK after a couple of major ommisions the list is ready first honorary mentions to the songs that just got booted out of the top 200. Gun n roses - Patience XTC - Making Plans For Nigel Richard Marx - Endless Summer Nights REO Speedwagon - Can't Fight This Feeling & last but most certainly not least the MIGHTY 201 Motorhead - Ace Of Spades My first real encounter with heavy metal, saw and heard this band for the first time on 'The Young Ones' and especially good episode starring Alexei Sayle. Nuthin rocks harder!!! anyway stand by, and if my relegation list has put you off don't worry there' sbound to be somethin for everyone except no SAW made the cut awwwww!! lol

Ace of Spades dont make the cut! By the way, while you're doing this, think up a personal title that you'd like as well, as when you reach 100 posts, you get to choose your very own title! Congrats in 4 posts time! ;D

hehe well it got a post all to itself hehe an a title hmmm me needs 2 think ok here goes 200 Kate Bush -CloudbustingI'm not a fan of Kate Bush at all but I actually got into this song through the 'Utah Saints - Something good ' and its got a great sci fi video with Donald Sutherland ;D 199 Midnight Oil - Beds Are BurningNow this song was a no1 in my chart twice and thankfully on re-issue it was a huge UK hit, still sounds fresh today, they still going I think in some form. 198 The Pretenders - Brass In PocketThis pre dates my charts but it was on the coolest female fronted records of all time and a quality number one single, a rare thing. 197 Spandau Ballet - GoldOk Spandau are a bit cheesy but they wrote some classic pop songs, you can't knock them hehe 196 Texas - I Don't Want A LoverOne of the few late 80s song in the list, saw this band live in 1988 and was blown away, they were supported by a band called 'Gun' who were relatively successful as well. One of the best gigs I've ever been too. 195 Voice Of The Beehive - I Walk The EarthEverybody has a band they like that they think nobody else likes or knows and VOTB were mine, I loved the way they kept missing the top 40 so they stay mine hehe but persistent re-issuing saw them eventually break. This was my fav song of theirs. Thier big hit 'Don't Call Me Baby' just missed the cut 194 The Clash - Rock the CasbahI was kinda late getting into The Clash one of the new fans recruited by 'Should I Stay..'s commercial but I'd always liked this song just never knew it was them 193 Dire Straits - Money For NothingThis wouldn't be an 80s list without this song, the most ground breaking video of the time with a great rock track to rival the Americans, the video is a bit dusty if you see it know tho hehe 192 Pet Shop Boys-Always On My MindKnow I have mentioned dancing much yet mainly coz I did't start going to pubs/clubs till i was 16. This is was the song that always got me dancin it sounded awesome at a disco, so atmospheric and of coz we all knew the words . 191 Simple Minds - Alive And KickingAnother band I got into late everyone at School liked U2 & Simple Minds hence it was 2 obvious to like them,I'd always be looking under the surface for new bands but in the end I had to admit, my mates were right about both these bands all along hehe 190 - 181 soooooon!!

190 Tears For Fears - Shout
Not much to say about this one, they were one of my fave bands, I could probably have picked several TFF songs btw my fave is still to come.
189 Wang Chung - Everybody Have Fun Tonight
Now this song may not mean anything to anyone, they were a British band that were huge in the US, they had one hit in the UK called 'Dancehall Days' but this track was just as good, it was top 5 in US and the chorus went
"Everybody have fun tonight Everybody have fun tonight Everybody Wang Chung tonight"" lol
ok I'm sad I know
188 Kenny Loggins - Danger Zone
Everyone knows this the action theme from 'TOP GUN' it roxs its naff but it roxs
187 Huey Lewis and the News - The Power of Love
More movie themes, needs no introduction.
186 Foreigner - Waiting For A Girl Like You
er yeppers another Movie Theme this time from the ole Kevin Bacon starrer 'Footloose' and no 'Footloose' is not on the list hehe
185 Metallica - One
Ok change of tack here, a section of kids at school were into this strange music called Thrash Metal, us pop/rockers thought it was just noice, how wrong we were. Underneath all that agression was some of the best classic guitar playing ever, the band that stood above the rest were of course 'Metallica' if I do a 90s list except a top 30 enter for one particular song but lets deal with this one first.
An awesome scary video that I first saw late at night on a rock show, all about WW1 and experiments it totally creeped me out but the song was brilliant!!
184 Debbie Gibson - Only In My Dreams
From the sublime to the er NO she's not ridiculous she was a goddess hehe, me and Neil shared the same love in 1987 and it was the Debster, ok and Belinda but don't tell her ok, hehe
183 Big Country - In A Big Country
Older cousins are sometimes useful they have large record collections of stuff before you bought records and that's where I discovered The Big C. 'The Seer' was my fave album I felt they start to go up their own arses as years went on.
182 Adam and the Ants - Prince Charming
Class video, class image, class song say no more!!
181 ABC - Poison Arrow
Pop perfection. 'Lexicon Of Love' is one of the best pop albums of all time no question.

It just gets better and better, Dangerzone is BRILL! Metallica - One, god I loved that as a kid, vid was scary from the film. And Big Country, another one of my big bands, got into them from the start and bought ALL their singles, absolutely loved em, tragic about Stuart Adamson:(

They achieved their biggest success with "Monsters & Angels" in 1991.

I used to like this song, think i've got it on 7inch single, though I've not heard it now for years. They achieved their biggest success with "Monsters & Angels" in 1991. Thorney was correct Robin, "Monsers & Angels" made #17 while "Don't Call Me Baby" made #15.

Thanks for the great replies next 10 comin up 180 White Snake - Here I Go AgainWhitesnake's reinvention into blonde poodle permed pretty boys actually produced their best album in my opinion, '1987' had 3 big hits and one of those is still too come. 179 Steve Winwood - ValerieOk this might have made my list anyway but Eric Prydz had to take some credit, loved the original it made no1 in my chart when it was re-issued. 178 Nik Kershaw - The Riddle Yeh he was uncool but he wrote som egreat pop songs, this one made the list as I remember all the arguments about 'wot the f*** this song is all about!!' in the end he said it was just nonsense and who are we to argue. 177 Neneh Cherry - Buffalo Stance Omg the run of white boys with guitars is broken, somebody completley different with one of the best debut singles of all time. Great mixture of pop. hip hop, rnb & house it was unique, still love it!!! 176 Spandau Ballet - Only When You LeaveMore perfect pop again not much else to say. 175 The Stranglers - Always The SunNow a very underrated track by one of the best post punk bands, the fact this never made the top 30 is a travesty, almost as good as their most famous classic, still to come Oh and thank Pulp for ripping it of on 'Babies' 174 Van Halen - JumpMore poodle rock and one the most OTT rock performers ever Dave Lee Roth, this song is classic 80s rock cheese hehe 173 The Bangles - Walk Like an Egyptian Except more from this band in the list but for pure catchiness and all the rest it made the list. 172 Morrissey - SuedeheadMorrisey's finest solo single although his recent stuff is pretty damn close, classic stuff. 171 Tracy Chapman - Fast CarNow I think I was too young to appreaciate Tracy at the time but over the years this has become one of my favourite songs, again like Neneh a unique new artist and brilliant debut. 170 Pet Shop Boys - SuburbiaMore of the Pet Shop Boys another great single and they have more too come, can you guess how many and which will be highest hehe ? ? ?

alright then here more.... 169 Huey Lewis & The News - Hip To Be SquareOK its not probably as good a song as 'Power Of love' but it ain't been so overplayed and sounds fresher today also it never charted as high as it deserved. 168 Blancmange - Living On The CeilingNow if you are a fan of bands like The Killers, you must check out this band, they are the template that so many current 80s inspired bands currently follow, honestly download this song if you dont know it you will see hehe 167 Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' MineOk I also kinda followed heavy rock although I had never been a fan of any ban until this one, INXS were my 1st T Shirt , they were my 2nd hehe 166 Del Amitri - Nothing Ever HappensSneaky one this as it was Xmas 89 but I had the album already, 'Waking Hours' was my favourite album of 1989 but I preffered another song, it's still to come 165 Robert Palmer - I Didn't Mean To Turn You OnHmmm not much to comment on this just loved the style, production etc just a great single. 164 Kim Carnes - Betty Davis EyesOne of those songs you find on 'School Disco' albums lol but its great, better than anything Rod The Mod did in the 80s. 163 Joe Jackson - It's Different For GirlsNever knew much about this guy, in fact I always thought this was a XTC song, which is a compliment of coz and its good it could have been them for sure 162 PIL - RiseNow I pretty much hated the sex pistols probably too young but I thought this was great, I have warmed to John Lydon's voice over the years 161 Peter Gabriel - SledgehammerAnother essential, no 80s list would be complete without this track, say no more. 160 Prefab Sprout - When Love Breaks DownAnother underrated band that wrote some classic pop songs, they have more to come. that's all today guys hehe
