Ditto. There was a tremendous burst of creativity circa 2005-6 where a load of acts produced a load of great material - but when they should have been given support for their follow-ups they were maliciously and malignantly ignored by the mainstream media in favour of the Fix Factor famewhores or industry test-tube creations like Allen or Adele. Or The Kooks. My God. 2005-2007 really was a fantastic time to be an indie music fan which so much good stuff coming out. It was almost like Britpop with loads of indie in the charts and on the radio. Quite a few of those bands are actually still going, but they just dont sell anymore. Having said that some of them dont deserve to sell much as the output is poor. I was lucky enough to be living in Leeds in 2006 and I made it to a 100 gigs that year, most by bands I liked and wanted to see (it became a target in the end so I did end up going to some random gigs as well). Even though I live in London now I wouldnt get anywhere near to wanting to go to 100 gigs such is the state of indie music right now.

It was a shame they never got a proper chance to follow that debut album but maybe they were always going to be band who were only good for an album. Seen them loads of times live and it could well be into double figures. Pull Shapes is a fantastic song and their best by a long way. There were three bands who all had some success at the same time who I was really into them, The Long Blondes and Little Man Tate and they all played one after another at Reading 07 on the Main Stage. It was like they had read my mind. Little Man Tate were probably my favourites though as they did 2 great albums and plenty of great b-sides along the way. They also did the gig that is number 2 in my top gigs so it has to be them.

^and do you really have to come to this thread to post that!!! sure Justin Bieber is more fun to listen to why are you in this thread again? Sorry for having a different opinion to you. Surely this is a forum where we can all have a view on whatever is posted. I can ask why you felt the need to start a thread on him. Apparently I saw him live last year supporting Noah & The Whale but I found him so dull I didnt even remember until the gf told me a few weeks ago.

Dont get how people like this sort of stuff. Its so dull and boring I always switch the radio when one of his songs comes on. Most male singer/songwriters sound exactly the same and I swear its pot luck as to who gets big and who doesnt.

Its a pretty decent album. Sappho, When My Day Comes and When We Were Children are the three main singles and are all good. I really like the opening track as well. Im surprised they havent become as big as The Vaccines have to be honest.

I was at that gig and they played all the singles I believe Bang, Sunday Sunday and Stereotypes are all missing from the DVD because it was cut into a 90 minute film at the time so three songs had to go.

Their Brits performance although not their best was still better than anything else on the night. They are an amazing live band and will prove it again in August.

Apparently he is going solo. Thats why I think it is a case of musical differences as they are a much different band to what they were.

They had some really good tunes and I am now wishing I had caught them when they were last on tour as I only caught the very end of the set at Glasto last year. I was a bit surprised by this actually given the fact they are now as big as they have ever been, but I guess musical differences is probably the main factor.

I saw someone point out that this sounds pretty much exactly like Guiding Star by Cast

I think the festivals are just trying to cater for what is popular now and sadly indie/guitar music isnt in fashion therefore V and TITP have changed. V hasnt always been so poppy, I went in 97 and it was an amazing line up that year. Reading will be very heavy on the guitars as always though I have no doubt about that, the only problem is they seem to have less and less bands I actually want to go and see on the bill, which for me proves the lack of decent bands coming through. Someone mentioned Witness but they always have a pop day, a dance day and an indie day so I dont see any difference there apart from the indie day hasnt been announced.

Sounds like a Madness song with the chorus more Hard-Fi. Its not a bad song and as someone else said they may have had a chance of getting big about 10 years ago, but no chance.

Get Over It (still their best song) is getting played on XFM a fair bit at the moment for some reason and I find it odd why some the DJs keep saying they are a one hit wonder given I would have thought more people would have known them for their videos rather than that song. Seen them a few times over the years although I did think the best time was last year at Glastonbury.

Great band and great video. It just goes to show if bands think outside the box you can make a good career as if it wasnt for their videos they wouldnt be anywhere near near as big as they are.

I thought the last album was pretty decent actually, Call Out is a great song. I had forgotten Silent Cry even exisited and have no idea if I even own it to be honest. I certainly cant think of anything that it is on it. This song is good though hopefully the album will be as well.

The Great Escape is much better than people say in my view and I think the Oasis thing and the fact it wasnt as good as Parklife didnt help the view most people have of that album. I think Blur edges it for me though as there are some fantastic album tracks on there and I wished they had done more Blur era stuff at their gigs a couple of years ago.
