I was pretty disappointed with the album to be honest. As mentioned above I thought it sounded samey as well. The other two albums they have released since they came back are way better.

The last album they released was a real return to form and in my view probably their best.

I prefer the original but its good to hear the song on the radio again. Only thing I liked that they ever did.

I heard about half of it on the radio the other day and it sounded awful and I am a pretty big fan of the band. Could be their worse single since Ruby.

This would sound so good on Radio 1 but they only play certain 90s bands now so they will headline their big weekends hence why Foo Fighters get played a lot and Biffy Clyro this week get another A list. She was interviewed in the Sunday Times last weekend and mentioned about the fact Radio 1 pretty much stopped playing them over night. I don't understand why bands like Foo Fighters get playlisted all the time whereas bands like Garbage are deemed not relevant any more. They don't even get played on Radio X which I would say should be the sort of music they should be playing. I never understand it why they are quite happy to play old stuff from bands, but new stuff doesn't even get a look in.

Im in my early 30s and for me it is Britpop and then the mid 00s that are the main musical events and that was pretty much Britpop the second coming. The problem with Indie music now is that it is so hard for bands to really break through into the mainstream. Getting indie bands into the charts used to be about getting fans to buy 2/3 versions of the single, but now it is mainly streaming must of them just get swamped.

That is true about their lyrics and I really like This Is The One which just pretty much repeats that line. I just think though it is one of the reasons why they are massively over rated as a band. That doesn't mean I don't like them it just means I don't think they deserve to be rated as high as they are.

Amazed by all the praise. The song sounds like something a bunch of school kids knocked up in their lunch break. Given how long they have meant to be working on this album to release something that sounds so lazy is annoying. To be fair the hook is catchy, but it is the terrible lyrics that ruin it. Imagine it has got the reaction it has because people want it to be good. Interesting to see what the album brings.

Lovelife was one of the best albums to come out of Britpop and I love it now as much as I did then. The new single does little for me sadly and I can remember buying the best of album when I was at uni and hating the earlier stuff. I would love to see the songs from Lovelife live, but not sure I can put up with the rest of it.

He/they made some good records but am I the only one getting the impression that Jake Shillingford is a bit of an arse? What makes you say that? Never met the bloke, but he seems like a decent enough guy. I doubt he would have had so many members in his band if he was an arse and be prepared to do all the comeback shows in recent years.

I love Exhibit A it is a great album, must admit I have not heard anything else by them although it sounds like I am not missing out.

I was gutted a couple of years ago when I had to work instead of going to the gig where they did The Golden Mile in full, but have seen them 3 times now since they reformed. Will be sad to think I won't hear those songs live again, but then I consider myself lucky they decided to reform because like you say they weren't a massive band.

You must buy the Golden Mile as it is in my view one of the best Britpop albums. Also I think the 3rd album is really good as well. Can't wait to see them at the end of the month in what they have now said is their last ever gig.

Saw them at the Garage last week which was obviously pretty special seeing them in a tiny venue. Was a pretty different set list from that one though which sounds superb.

I have avoided hearing haim, are you jealous? Lol. To be honest I haven't heard that much of them either as XFM is the main radio station I listen to and they don't play them which is slightly surprising.

I wish I had never heard of Haim, can't stand them and clearly a here today gone tomorrow band.
The 3 albums I have played the most this year have been Suede, Frankie & The Heartstrings and Miles Kane. All 3 are superb albums.
Frightened Rabbit have done one of the best singles of the year and the album isn't quite as good as that song, but still worth getting.

They played this live at their Earls Court show. Very odd song, not sure it really works.

Should add that Alex's stupid accent during the set made him look a bit of a dick.

Thought they were really good last night although mainly because they played so much stuff on the first album and didn't do too much later stuff which helped. They have always been a good live band, but I don't think they were ready to headline festivals in 2007 and I saw them at Reading in 09 I think it was and they were boring then as well. Their gigs around the first album though were amazing.
