Was hoping they would get rid of Zane Lowe but nevermind.

I cant help but think its a bad idea. Although Im too young to have seen them first time around everything suggests they were a very hit and miss live band and given Ian Brown cant sing I just wonder how good these gigs are going to be, especially as the last two summers weve had Blur and Pulp reform and put in brilliant performances. I am however interested to hear the new stuff which of course the other two didnt do although I cant help thinking that the money offered finally got too big for them to turn down.

I saw them live I think it was about 2006 and it was good to hear the classics.

Blimey I cant imagine many people would have brought it anyway but at £25 thats way too high. Its a decent album without being a classic.

Ringo wrote Yellow Submarine didnt he? Also every song that is written isnt going to be a classic. Suedehead is right I would put all those above Noel and I dont even like Elbow. Really Noel the best songwriter in the last 20 years? Have you actually heard/read his lyrics? yeah why not? what about the beatles? lyrics ? at times they seem dodgy. Yellow submarine? wild honey pie? and more Noel is up there with the greatest no doubt

Everytime I hear it on the radio I think they are playing The Importance of Being Idle. Im still of the opinion that it is a very average song.

It reminded me of Importance of Being Idle as well which surely is a bit of a cop out from Noel. It doesnt sound anything special to me.

I listened to the album earlier and just felt complete indifference to it, which was how I felt about the last one, which I actually dont think its that big a departure from to be honest. Its not a bad album but it hardly made me want to rush out and buy it. The first album was always going to be a tough act to follow and they have not got anywhere near it since sadly.

It's an interesting idea, hopefully they leave it open for long enough such that after the full album is out we can pick our favourite 10 tracks (including from the 7 unreleased ones) - rather than rely on an initial reaction to 60 second clips. I agree the 60 second clips arent really enough. I was able to hear one of the tracks in full and it ended up being over 5 minutes long and sounded like a perfect end to the album, whereas on hearing the short clip I had it at the start.

i do like the kaiser chiefs, i have seen them live and pre ordered their debut album. i just think their material is a bit weak these days. now if they released a best of in this format with an option to add songs from their upcoming 13 track physical album i would think it was a great idea But how do you know what their material is like these days if you havent heard it? A lot of it sounds like nothing they have ever done before. I actually think the album I have made is decent but that there isnt a stand out song for me like there has been on their other albums.

i understand perfectly, i will still pass though, if i like what i hear i will buy the 13 track physical album, the 13 best tracks in the bands opinion. i will not buy a double album of all 20 songs and end up buying 7 tracks that are not good enough for an album (ie filler ontop of the usual filler they already have on the album). yeah picking 10 songs is probably a good thing because i doubt they have 13 good songs to make it onto an album anyway. actually i think i would prefer just a blank cd lol Bands get it wrong though, indeed Suede have admitted that they would have put two of their b sides on the first album instead of a couple of songs that made it on there in hindsight. Ive heard bands bsides before, including the Kaisers, and wondered why they werent on the album as they were better than songs on the album. Everyone has a different opinion on what songs they like so I think its a good idea to choose which ones I want. I think if a band you actually liked had come up with this idea you would be a lot different towards it. Also I am not going to buy all 20 songs as I didnt like enough of the others to warrant it.

Think your missing the point daz this is the album they only recorded 20 songs there arent anymore to come. Having listened to all the clips on the website there are a few dud tracks in my opinion although others have chosen some of the ones I dont like very much so it just goes to show everyone likes different stuff, which is why I think its such a good idea. Im pretty happy with the 10 songs Ive chosen and glad Ive had the chance to pick the ones I wanted on the album. A fair few of the songs are different to anything theyve ever done before and in my view it does no harm in giving all the songs a listen (they provide a minute clip of each) and if you dont want to buy you dont have to.

It is unique though because no one has officially done this, no band has said go and do this before and no band has said you can make money from selling there music before. I own loads of albums but I can say I have ever felt the need to make my own cds from the albums before although I suppose the fact I dont always put the whole album on my mp3 player is sort of the same.

Nothing you haven't been able to do already for a long time, as long as you could burn CDs, and I started burning them for the first time in 2000. Sounds like an excuse to try to rip off the public again. Who exactly is going to buy one from the fans website? Strictly speaking I dont think what you have been doing is the same as this. They have written 20 songs and its up to you to choose which ones you want to put onto your own album. If you buy an album you are stuck with the 10 or so tracks the band think should be on the album. In the past some left over tracks would be b sides but bands dont really need them now. So why not let the people buying the music decide what songs they want to form the album? I think its a very good idea and is thinking outside the box which when selling music nowadays you need to do. I cant really think how its ripping off the public as £7.50 for a 10 song album is pretty good and obviously if you want them all then its £15 which is decent for two albums worth of songs. The one thing that I dont get is the selling on of the album you have made and I cant really see why someone would want to buy what someone else has done. Surely the fun is doing it for yourself and I am looking forward to creating my own album later. But at the sametime its a nice gesture that if you do happen to sell any you get money for it. It is a pretty unique idea.

This is their fifth single and all have them have been different. I don't understand why Radio 1 have been so slow in playing them, they hardly get played at night and not on the playlist. There album will be one of the best this year so far.

Posted by Danny on 7/19/06 at 14:43 Snow Patrol did ok with "You're All I Have" but they should have gone with "Chasing Cars" first (I realise their 2004 album wasn't their debut but it was their major breakthrough album).
That isn't Snow Patrol's second album, off the top of my head I think it's their fourth.
